Outfitting a wealthy psionic "commoner"

I posted a very similar thread to this a while back, but this time it's for a new character on behalf of a friend. We're starting up a commoner campaign this Monday, and my friend is having trouble deciding how to spend his money. He's apparently spent 1/8 of it so far and can't think of anything else to buy. We start as level 1 commoners with scores of 11 across the board, which are in turn affected by race, templates, aging, and items. My friend is playing a draconic maenad and wants to become a telepath psion who is a manipulative type of character.

Our DM is being quite generous with starting gold, making us all mind-blowingly rich for commoners. For the maenad, he has 8333.25 gp at the start. What items would you reccomend to help him optimize? I'm playing a very skilled alchemist myself so alchemical items will be covered and supplied by me with a huge discount.

but beyond that, there are any number of minor magic items. Shax's Indispensable Haversack (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?148101-3-x-Shax-s-Indispensible-Haversack-(Equipment-Handbook)) is a good resource.

Its a big chunk of his starting gold, but a Coin of the Brotherhood (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/equipment/psionic-items/universal-items/#TOC-Coin-of-Brotherhood) would be very thematic.
