Ok so im thinking like ang from the last airbender. I always role a meele player and have never really had a caster although i really want to the party always seems to lack a real tank. So i was thinking what classes/ spec options would you run i want to focus on fire and earth. Have a cool idea of a magma genasi using fire stats(magma for flavor) and making him a monk/ insert elementak caster here

Because you want to play a monk... I would say to go with Human Variant and pick Magic Initiate - Druid for Control Flames and Produce Flame, that's the best you can get mechanically.

Unless you are playing a Level 20 game, if you are, just go with Moon Druid and never leave your Fire Elemental form...

Then forget about monk and just go full sorcerer or wizard...

Or maybe a Monk 1/Light or Forge Cleric X...

There is a non-draconic (I don't know why anyone would want to be a non-draconic elemental damage sorcerer) in the UA: https://media.wizards.com/2017/dnd/downloads/26_UASorcererUA020617s.pdf

If you want to make an element bender, the Mystic class from UA does that very well. Order of the Wu Jen for the win!

The Elemental Monk is basically the Avatar. A common criticism for it is that the Elemental abilities use up too many Ki points that would be better used for Stunning Fist - see if your DM is amenable to reducing the cost of the Elemental abilities by one Ki point (this makes some abilities free).

Monks are fun and really cool - Stunning First is also really strong when you get it. You might not be the highest damage dealer, but your party loves you as you get them auto-crits on the bad guys.

If you're interested in homebrew my Monk Rework (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxGh_mU9ihaPSTRRekRiSEZaWlk) has several elemental themed archetypes.

Otherwise with RAW then Way of the Sun Soul from SCAG is probably the closest you can get as a monk.

Any reason you took away dash and disengage?

Never mind i see in the notes you moved it to Way of Air.

Any reason you made the monk a caster? Oh and the changes o long death feel ...unnecessary. No need for Spells but i guess moving stunning strike there is ok since dissorient is in base. If you keep spells no need for kiblast. Espescialyl since its the same as the shadow ki blast.

Stone or Phoenix Sorcerer, or I second Wu Jen mystic. Both high damage options that fit your theme.

To not clutter up this thread I have responded to your questions on the thread about my Monk Rework (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?498675-Monk-Rework&p=22036375#post22036375). There you can see other user's comments too.

Does the Wu jen really do that much damage? Can he hold his own in a close range fight? Thats one of the reasons i was thinking a monk combo you get that unarmered ac

Wu Jen damage output is comparable to other full casters like the Sorcerer or Wizard. If you take the right powers, u can fight in melee as well.

And Wu Jen also gets Wizard spells, don't forget about that.

I'm going to third the mystic wu-gen. There a d8 hit dice. they can get a high AC. They don't need a spell focus or components. If we were to play are Avatar the last air bender game a again. I'll use the mystic to create my bender.
