Not sure if there is a rule that will clarify what should happen here ...
Spell “SpiritJaws“ in Spell Compendium (pg. 202) is a Force effect which grapples opponents ...
Monster manual pg. 311 under Incorporeal subtype states:
“Incorporeal creatures cannot make trip or grapple attacks, nor can they be tripped or grappled. In fact, they cannot take any physical action
that would move or manipulate an opponent or its equipment, nor are they subject to such actions.“
that seems like a straight forward rule but I also realize that Spell compendium spells bring new scenarios to the game ...
Incorporeal creatures are usually affected by Force effects ... looking for rules or opinions that would help with this conflict ...
