Math - Calculating Damage With Ranged Weapons

Its leveling up time and I want to make sure we are doing some basic math correctly when calculating damage from a longbow in particular.

My character is proficient with the longbow.

The longbow attack roll is a D20 + my proficiency bonus + my dex modifier.

If the attack hits damage is a D8 + my Dexterity Bonus. Proficiency is not added again.

Do I have this correct?

Both are correct.

If your character has the Archery fighting style, remember to add the +2 bonus from the style to your attack roll.
