Looking around online, I've noticed a glaring lack of one particular resource for both DMs and players: a complete list of all official subclasses available. There's a lot of indexes out there, but they tend to be chock-full of homebrew stuff and it can be hard to figure out what's what. With Unearthed Arcana, it can be hard to know what all your options are and I thought it would be nice to have a single place people could go to find these things.

Storm Soul has also been published in the SCAG, so it is no longer relegated to UA.

Changes made -- thank you all! When possible, I should definitely link the most up-to-date version.

This leads to an issue with things like Storm Soul that moved from UA to published books. For now, I intend to leave the UA link up, but point to the book where a revised and up-to-date version can be found. I can change this policy and remove the UA links if moderation would prefer.

Personally, I like having every version of the subclass listed, not just the most up-to-date ones. For comparison's sake.

Agreed. If for nothing else, it's sometimes fun to see how they changed over time.

If you're going to call it complete, and you're going to include UA stuff, then for the sake of completeness you should probably link all versions of UA stuff that have been amended.
Favored Soul has undergone a couple of different iterations, Kensai has two versions, etc.

No. Because that's not how things work here.
You can request that Mark Hall add it to the "5e Notable Threads" thread that is stickied, if you like.
Or better yet, ask the owner of "Guides, Tables, and other useful tools for 5E D&D" that is included in that thread. That will probably happen faster, and doesn't require Mod intervention.

You seem to have missed the Revised Ranger I mentioned.

Revised Ranger is not a subclass. It's a revision of the base class.

New UA dropped, so 3 of those will have secondary (main? Not sure how you're treating Revised subclasses) links and the Celestial patron for Warlocks is technically new (but more a reskin of the Undying Light)

And subclasses are actually called Archetypes.

The Revised Ranger is important to include here, along with the Artificer and Mystic. I really apprecicate the work the OP has done, but if his goal isn't to catalog all class content then I'd rather use another thread that will.

Eh. Only fighters and rogues have archetypes (martial and roguish, respectively); if you start correcting, at least do it right ;)

Subclass is more appropriate as a general term.

You have the Undying patron (SCAG), but you missed the similarly named Undying Light (https://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/02_UA_Underdark_Characters.pdf). I haven't checked if they are different mechanically, but considering the vastly different fluff, I assume they are.

I intend to include all class options. Anything missing is unintentional. There's so much content out there, and it's awesome that you guys are helping out. :smallsmile:

I may need to rethink formatting to get everything in there -- maybe a separate subheading for class revisions. I need to pop off to work soon but I'll try to get that fixed this evening.

because I'm a huge nerd, I'm gonna go through the UA subclasses to speculate what's coming in Xanathar's Guide to Everything. They've said it's the "25 most popular" UA subclasses, so what does that mean?

Right now, there are 46 UA subclasses. Let's start with what it probably isn't:

*Modern Magic (http://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/UA_ModernMagic.pdf) has 3, which takes us down to 43.

It strikes me that if WotC have released a revised version, it means they're working on balance, which means it's more likely to appear again later (since we know they're working on it). This includes:

* Path of the Ancestral Guardian (barbarian)
* College of Swords (bard)
* Arcane Archer (fighter)
* Way of the Kensei (monk)
* Favoured Soul (sorcerer)
* Circle of the Shepherd (druid)
* Cavalier (fighter)
* Oath of Conquest (paladin)
* The Celestial (warlock)

Which is one for every class except cleric, ranger and rogue. Kinda weird no class (except Fighter) has had two revised subclasses -- again I know this is pure speculation but that doesn't strike me as a coincidence. Working on that logic, that's 9/25. There's 12 classes, so most likely we're looking at 2 subclasses per class, with somebody (sorcerer? No idea) getting a third.

There's also a handful of others confirmed, which are in green.

Let's break it down further:

Green = likely to appear
Orange = no idea
Red = seems unlikely

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I think the Raven Queen is the mostly likely other one to appear -- with the Celestial there's a nice light/dark pairing, both of them offer very different ways to play the class, and the Raven Queen has a lot more presence in the fluff than the others.

Raven Queen is setting specific, I have a hard time picturing it appearing in a FR book (without a lot of generalization and stripping off the fluff anyways... like 'reaper pact' or 'death pact')

Those are not official content, if we added everything on DMs Guild to these sorts of lists it would be enormous (and costly)

Yeah, we're steering clear of borderline cases like that -- see also the Blood Hunter not being included.

Quick suggestion - can you list the subclasses for the Artificer and the Mystic? I understand they all just link to one thing anyways, but it is nice to see all the separate options. :P

Order domain has also been published in Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica (along with the Druids' Circle of Spores) which is just as much official material as PHB and the rest; even though Ravnica is one of the worlds of Magic: the Gathering.

The worlds of Magic: the Gathering have been officially established as part of the whole D&D multiverse, so there's no reason to exclude them from the list.

Hi, I don’t know if you’re aware but wizards of the coast has released a ton of new UA subclasses in the past couple months. Outside of that, artificer has been made an official class in the new sourcebook. I think they would all make useful add-ons to the list, but I understand if you you’re too busy with the holiday season and all.
I love this list have used it so much, thank you for the hard work.
