Cosmic Descryer "Extra HD" Clarification?

The further increases from more Cosmic Descryer levels only affect the extra HD not the maximum number of HD.

I thought Cosmic Descryer increases the max hd of greater planar binding every 4 levels (22hd->26hd->30hd->34hd...)

What's this "extra hd" distinction?

I've read it over, including the epic level handbook and the d20srd, and I say he's wrong.

The extra hd refers to the increase in hd. There is no separate distinction for the extra hd.

Ignore him. Cosmic Descryer strengthens your planar binding by 4hd every 4 levels.
