There is a Prestige Class in the Bestiary of Krynn that gives flexibility to spontaneous casters within a weeks preptime for any spell at the price of a single level of caster progression. As a bonus it gives metamagic to spontanious casters as the same time demands as a prepared caster, it allows for negative bonuses on certain metamagic to simulate an intuitive grasp of magic and an oppertunity to grab improved metamagic at pre-epic levels!!!

Does this redress the spontaneous/prepared difference in any realistic mannor? It requires at least two feats if you have a spell-like ability or a supernatural ability, but then gnomes get that as a standerd player race:smallamused:

I'm not sure if I understood your sentence about the negative bonuses, but in general any class, presclass, or feat that allows you to reduce the metamagic spell level adjustment smells of cheese.

Sooo.. it's an incantatrix who also can prepare all spells as a spontaneous caster?

Cheeeese.

Note, however, if you used such a thing, any intelligent player wishing to compete would drudge up their PGTF, and laugh at you.

The spontaneous/prepared axis is not really the problem.

Dragonlance gnomes do not (and presumably you'd be using the Bestiary of Krynn in a Dragonlance game, yes?)
