Ultimate Intrigue introduced verbal duels, a social combat system that attempts to formalize and put into rules the art of the debate.
I haven't seen this sub-system discussed much, and thats probably because many people don't like systems that impose on the traditional domain of good, old-fashioned roleplaying. I'm sure there are many other reasons as well.
But lets set those critiques aside for the moment, and focus on the mechanics.
How do you optimize a character for verbal duels?
Which feats, classes and archetypes give benefits to a character specializing in verbal duels?
What tactics are best, or lend hemselves well to optimizing?
Is there any gear or spells that are invaluable?
Are there other sub-systems that could be involved to give a verbal duel specialist an edge?
