Cool and powerful undead beatsticks?

Templates are fine too, like Death Knight(I think there's a template version), Dread Warrior, and Necropolitan. I'm looking for undead warriors and gigantic undead creatures that can lay down the smackdown quite well, at least for their CR.

Not sure if you are okay with licensed material, but in the Revised Bestiary of Krynn (Dragonlance) there is the Ankholian Undead template, which can be added to any extant corporeal undead. +4 Str and Cha, Cold breath weapon plus fire damage on natural attacks. Can also contaminate other other undead with the template, and any kills rise as Zombies with the template in 1d4 rounds. Not a straight beatstick, but adds some real variety to an already undead beatstick.

By the book I think its waaay under CRed. A CR 7 that WILL hit, do about a hundred points of damage a round, has SR and a fear aura?

I second this. Best undead beatstick = 40hd skeletal dragon. Unless of course you go epic.

I third a skeletal dragon. I got a 19hd one and it is the star damage dealer in every fight. A full attack gets 1bite, 2 claws, 2 wings, and a tail attack. A worthy investment if you can get one!

This is pretty impressive.

I'm looking for undead that would hold up against a decently optimized party, have more of a unique and elite feel than the average monster, deals good damage, and preferably have relatively low HD compared to power. Grappling isn't needed, because FoM kills it dead.
