DMFA II: 9 years later, full plot ahead

A very detailed, well-fleshed out world where many different magical races and non-magical races live together in peace and harmony ... NOT.

A plotline where a dragon plans revenge on a cubi. Both want to wipe out the other's race. And poor non-magical beings are kinda caught in the middle. I mean, it's not like the non-magical beings want to use high-end tech to make a purely non-magical weapon to defend with, right?

(To clarify: Cubi "Cyra" kinda messed up, and took out too many Dragons by accident. Her daughter wants to finish the job (wipe out all Dragons), and the top of the Dragons wants to wipe out all Cubi. And there's no scroll of genocide in sight.)

So Biggs is talking to Jyrras about the dragon attack, and what Wildy said to Biggs.

Of course, unsaid is the whole "I told you so" that Biggs had told Jyrras earlier.

With confirmation that Hizell (the dragon) deliberately left his target alive ... why?

Although I think she would have reacted far less calmly had Hizell actually killed Abel.
Sure, she is smarter and has more self control than she makes herself appear, but having Hizell (successfully) carrying out his feud in her city- murdering someone she cares about no less?
I'm not confident his envoy would have gotten beyond the greeting.:smalleek:

And we finally get to the end of the diplomacy. We find out the fate of the poor lackey sent to Kira Soulstealer, demon, killer, and general all-around vicious creature.

Oh, and we might even get to part of the reason for this, with the envoy acknowledging that Abel will live for centuries, unharmed by what comes next.

Hmm. Abel is away from Lost Lake. There will be a potential battle there, at least if Mab is not there; there's a traitor dragon that sided with a cubi's daughter, and a traitor cubi's daughter that sided with a dragon. Abel and Jyrrus are a thing, and now Jyrrus has an excuse to avoid the war. This is a great way to remove the protection factor that Jyrrus has out of the equation, putting one of the biggest political factors out of the war equation.

And all it cost Dragon Hizell was some trivial money and sending one disposable aid into Kira's lair.

So, we finally get to understand Mab.

... Or ... is it more a case of, "as soon as you think you understand her, after the previous comment about the river, now she says this"?

... Either way, it's clear that she will protect what she will protect. Heck, Hizell even knew this, remember?

But still, would it be worse to be a living being inside a painting, able to think, talk, etc., just not able to move very far? Or for a creature of combat, would that be worse than death?

Wrapping up the inn battle, and we finally see everything that Mab was dealing with.

Between this, and the last one, I think it's clear that she's not "empty headed" in any sense, but is very clearly understanding the consequences of her actions, and making sure those around her know the results of their actions/inactions.

Maybe there will be a solution to Pyro's issues next month; maybe next month will be the last one.
