Stake, Shake, and Wake; A Proposed Protocol to Repatriate a Vampire Spawn to the Land of the Living.

Stake the spawn in their resting place. This stops the further progression of the disease and the curse much like forcing a tumor into remission. This event is felt by the "vamp-sire/dam-pire" who created the spawn.

Shake off the curse and the disease which made the victim. Both must be done nearly simultaneously. The subject must fail CON save vs spell DC for the treatments to succeed.
Treating the curse: remove curse (3rd) or greater restoration (5th).
Treating the disease: lesser restoration (2nd), greater restoration (5th) or other means to remove disease (eg Paladin's Lay on Hands)
Treating both at the same time: heal (6th). Only one save is attempted by the subject.

Wake the now merely dead victim. The undead vampire spawn does not age or decompose while being undead. Once the disease and curse are removed, this process accelerates. Further, the soul of a former spawn may not wish to return to their restored mortal body out of remorse, and may rightly fear the return of their former sire/dam. So the normal return from the dead restrictions are modified.

Revivify (3rd) should be the first thing attempted on the newly dead. It will work on a willing soul spawned within the last day if cast before the next sunset.

Raise Dead (5th) works on a willing soul spawned in the last year, or for a soul spawned longer with a successful WIS DC 10 save. The longer a soul was a spawn, the less likely it will want to return.

In summary, stake, shake, and wake to recover a vampire spawn. This protocol written for and dedicated to Doru Donadonavitch.
