So, kenku can't talk as much as mimic other speech. So, how have you roleplayed and explained how a kenku learns new spells with verbal components when they level up?

Sure, you can DM hand wave, but I was curious about non hand wavy methods

Probably depends on the type of spellcaster you are, but in general I don't consider the *specific words* being said as important compared the intent and focus behind them. Mechanically all that matters is making noticeably magical sound verbally

Even if it was the exact phrase needed to cast a spell, a Kenku would be the perfect race to learn new spells. They can mimick the phrase perfectly.

Yeah wizards, clerics, bards, warlocks... probably all 'hear' the exact phrasing to cast the spell. Druids maybe too, depending on the flavor of Druidism. It is sorcerers who probably have to 'improvise' appropriate verbals out of things they have heard
