Quick Draw clarification

I'm working on a Fighter/Thief that exclusively uses improvised weapons.

Will quick draw work to allow me to snatch up a nearby stone, mug, or bag of hammers as a free action?

I'd like to take him down the improvised weapons track as well as the disarming track so that I can continually catch my opponents flat footed when I smack them in the face with my beer.

Picking something up is not drawing a weapon.

Does that mean it's already a free action or that there's no way for it to become a free action?

What kind of action is required to pick something up in combat?

Shows it's a move action. I am unaware of any feat that allows you to pick things up as a free action.
