Okay, just a little crazy but if you can have half-elf and half-orc...

Why not Half-Dwarf?

Working on a background and class design.

Open to helpful input on what the race would be like in D&D terms.

Half Dwarf: +1 CO

Hill Dwarf: +1 WI

Mountain Dwarf: +1 ST

From the Human side:+1 in one other non-ST/non-CO/non-WI ability. * Alternate idea - one feat

HHD: +1 CO, +1 WI, +1 in DE or IN or CH. *

HMD: +1 CO, +1 ST, +1 in DE or IN or CH. *

Languages Dwarvish, Common

Work In Progress currently.

Hey Zorro, here is a really, really good guide on making new races. It should help you balance it out with other races out there.

I would suggest looking at the Muls from Dark Sun setting. They are half dwarves, and you may like to base your race on them.

Here is a link to some racial features based in the Dark Sun Campaign Setting 4e. http://dnd4.wikia.com/wiki/Mul
