Already dead. Not undead. But dead. Preferably, surrounded by their untrapped treasure, already in handy, portable extra-dimensional storage devices.

Blue. Not only are raspberries tasty, its the first thing you think of when someone says "ozone", so it's good for the environment. Right?

Pink.

Red dragons with the half-dragon (white) template are nasty critters to throw against the party.

Silver for the good guys and Red for the evil ones.
I mean, SURE it's not all that original, but the games name is dungeons and DRAGONS, would feel wrong to exclude them alltogether.

Yea, personally, I don't think it would feel really DnDish without the second D.

And my blue dragon favorite stems from reading dragonlance; the only other ones I really like are silver and bronze.

And, ironically, I generally play chaotic characters :elan:

Chromatic: Blue (loved those lightning-throwing pugnacious brutes since "Dragons of Winter Night").
Metallic: Bronze. They're the knight-errant of the dragon world (dragon + knight = win. Yeah).
Gemstone: *pffffft* as if.

So i can safely assume you have no humans or any other race in any book ever written ever in your game? Or that you dont even have races in your game perhaps? Or that you don't play dnd at all, since someone else has done it before? :smalltongue:

God, that was really annoying actually.

Coppers are actually pretty awesome in my book as far as metallic dragons go. Not quite a threat, unless the PCs are lacking in a sense of humor.

For chromatics, easily Blacks. Water lairs are a downright beeyotch.

I've got a character with Draconic Heritage (Battle Dragon) at the moment, and while I chose it for the sonic breath weapon, I did decide upon looking at their entry in the Draconomicon afterwards that they're pretty darn cool in their own right.

Hmm, possessed clerics don't really turn me on, especially when they use breath weapons. Your party must have some strange fetishes.

Eh, apologies. I'll take it back to the Hinjo's Junk thread. :smallwink:

I like odd dragons, like the planar ones, especially radiant, oceanus, and shadow dragons.

Brass dragons don't shoot lightning. Bronze do. Brass breathe fire.

I like blues and bronzes. I must add that I strongly dislike the colour-coding of dragons; in my campaigns a black dragon can be LG as easily as a gold can be NE. I have fiddled with the idea of changing dragon names from the colours - reds become blood dragons, greens forest dragons, blues storm dragons, blacks ash dragons and whites frost dragons. I always strand when I get to the metallic and gem dragons though.

Xorvintaal is a template that appears in the Dragons of the Great Game section of the MM-V.

I like Bronze and green dragons. My party has weaseled our way out of conflict with green dragons by delivering powerful artifacts to them and presenting to them fine meals of towns and monestaries. Nothing like a diplomacy check to get you out of a tight situation. Interestingly, I'm the only evil character in the party, the others just turn a blind eye it seems.

As a tricksy DM, I like to use dragons whose colors are at odds with their abilities. Who's to say that a red dragon can't be colored green?

Crimson.

The largest and meanest dragon in my campaign is currently Andregorax, the Crimson Dragon. She’s basically an epic-level Great Wyrm Red dragon, with some tweaks. Instead of a cone of fire, she spits fireballs. Instead of Sorcerer levels, she has psionic abilities (I haven’t converted her from 2nd edition to 3.5, as I haven’t needed her to show up in the campaign for awhile. Last I left her, she was laying waste to an island continent much like Australia on the other side of the campaign world to where the current set of characters are adventuring.) She’s my ace-in-the-hole. My campaign’s Tarrasque-equivalent. When my players finally beat Andregorax, they know they’ve *earned* it.

I always strand when I get to the metallic and gem dragons though.
Two ideas included. One is based on terrain; the other on personality.

Silver - Cloud or Shield (this one's straight from the MM)
Gold - Stone or Noble (not that they can't be evil nobles)
Bronze - Beach or Errant (a play on Knight-Errant)
Brass - Sand or Sage
Copper - Hill/Maze or Riddle

I have no idea for the gems; I don't play with psionics, so have little use/experience with them.

My own sneaky little creation:

The Iron Dragon

He looks like a black dragon, lives in a swamp like a black dragon, likes his meat pickled like a black dragon, but is actually half silver dragon. PCs come up to him thinking, "Oh look! A black dragon. Since dragons are color-coded for convenience, we must slay this very obviously evil dragon. Use protection against acid and evil. Attack!" They then proceed to get slapped in the face with a Cone of Cold. Confusion follows.

Bestial. I prefer dragons that are wild and natural, not bib intelligent sorcerors with wings, but animals with big teeth. It makes them more of a risk to fight, so they're more fun.
