Hey Giants!

I decided to try my hand at some 5th Edition D&D homebrew mechanics since my regular gaming group is going to be starting up a new 5E campaign soon. I absolutely love the 5E Warlock, but feel the class is lacking in invocation and spell versatility. I did some research and read up on the Unearthed Arcana playtest information which gives some new and very interesting mechanics to play with. I am also a huge fan of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, and wanted to convert some of the spells from that system into stuff for the 5E Warlock.

I decided to try to create a sleep spell specialist (not your typical Warlock build). This ended up making an embarrassing amount of neural connections between my adult love of d20 systems and my childhood love of Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland, a movie I would watch religiously when I was 5 years old. I did not set out to mechanically recreate Nemo, his friends, or their adventure. I did, however, use the movie (which I watched again, a couple of times... for research) to influence the mechanics. I also took the time to make it look nice (I think) for you because, well... you're worth it, Giants.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to look over my HB stuff. Please let me know what you think. I am really interested to see what I can do to help make it more mechanically balanced for most campaigns.

Also, I don't own the artwork I used in the document but included the title and name of the artist for each, which I found on Deviant Art. Please, if you like their artwork, go check them out!

A)
Wow this looks nice. Its different from the usual homebrewery dnd stuff but its really pretty and well laid out

B)
Mechanically this mostly looks good, some of the spells are a bit off? I think
Deep Slumber is just sleep with a longer duration. It might just be worth saying that when you cast sleep at certain levels the duration increases. I.e cast sleep at 3rd level and it lasts for an hour

C)
The bed is silly but fun. I'm not sure it would ever be used properly but it seems like a fun way to exit an inn in a hurry

D)
Theres a good balance between stuff for battles and roleplaying stuff, it seems a good patron.

Thanks for taking a look at my homebrew and for the feedback.

Yeah, I could see homebrewing a spell change that sleep at higher level extends the duration, but lacking that I wanted to give some sleep options. Both deep slumber and forgetful slumber are pulled from the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and modified to fit the sleep spell's mechanics from 5E. I reduced the number of hit points each of those spells affect because I wanted the sleep spell to still be a viable option at higher levels.

The Nemo's flying bed spell is essentially a re-skinned flying carpet magic item from the DMG. By making it a ritual, I was hoping to give warlocks their own unique ritual, making the Ritual Caster (warlock) feat a bit more enticing. Obviously, warlocks would need a LOT more unique rituals to do that, though.

I am glad you thought there was a good balance of stuff for combat as well as RP.

I love Little Nemo, and this is quality work. I'm totally showing this to my gaming group.
