Hello.
The party is going to confront a Beholder. I swapped a few feats out and added three levels of Ocular Master (Dragon Magazine).
I think he still needs a meat shield companion. Any recommendations?

Maybe a Cryohydra or one of the larger Elementals?

Don't they have at-will Charm Monster? Throw in three dozen otyughs and a few hundred commoners.

I think Beholders and Fire Giants have some kind of weird pact for this in many settings.

Plenty of (local slaves) and a few exotic, since I don't know what's local here are some exotics:
Any giant + were squid.
A small community or swarm of Grell.
Half-Dragon Annis Hag, with some Dungeoncrasher, PsyWar, and/or Barbarian levels.
A Titanic (template) Penguin would be useful as a meat shield only, I don't believe they have any attacks.
Your favorite biggest Vermin + Fullplate Barding.
That Dammed Crab and his big cousin, Tamatoa (no serious build ideas).

Where will the fight be taking place? Does the Beholder have a lair in a mountainous area, forest, swamp... And did you just want something that gets in the way of the party or did you want something to be something of a threat on its own?
How about a Shield Guardian as a general suggestion.

Maybe throw in some Ocular Adepts?

A blind, adult shadow dragon would be a good companion.

A dim-witted Advanced Chimera, an orc warlady, or possibly a tribe of goblins.

Oh, that's good.....
Will the breath weapon be affected by an antimagic field?

I believe it does. I don't have an official ruling, though.

Breath weapons are usually supernatural, so would be suppressed.
