Pathfinder game. A group of PCs with only NPC classes have an accidental encounter in an abandoned wizard's sanctum/alchemist's lab. The enemies are using psionic classes (Dreamscarred Press version), but they're all 1st Level save for the Dual Boss, who are 2nd level.

What kind of items can I leave around that will give clever players an edge but not break the game later (when the players acquire PC classes)? The owner of the sanctum is indisposed for at least the first half of the game, but turns out to be a fairly chill guy so it wouldn't make sense to have weapons lying about unless they're attached to the security system.
