[3.5/Pathfinder] Templates for Tam Lin?

So I've decided to completely crib the Ballad of Tam Lin for an adventure I'm running now, and I need an acquired template that I can apply to the man himself. It needs to grant the Fey type, and it needs to be low CR adjustment, hopefully. The group is only about level four now, so I'm planning on him not exceeding that level.

Would the Fey Heritage feat tree from Complete Mage work, rather than a full-on template? I used that in one of my games for an NPC who had been one of the children taken by the Pied Piper. (The time he spent in Faerie altered him such that he ended up with that feat despite having been born human.)

The fey type or the elf subtype I think you mean. Or he could be one of the many types of untemplated creatures whose bachstory is that the drow like to turn people into stuff. Or he could be the subject of a polymorph any object spell

I think there's some kimd of unseelie template in the Dragon Compendium that changes type to fey
