So I can't describe how much fun I've been having with this character. I'll lay it out for you guys...
Forgotten Realms Adventure League Rules:
Shield Dwarf
STR 15 (+2 Racial) 17
DEX 14
CON 15 (+2 Racial) 17
INT 8
WIS 10
CHA 8
Battle Axe/Warhammer & Shield
I've gotten 2 very lucky magic items:
1.) Cloak of Protection: +1 AC +1 All Saves
2.) Shield +2
At Level 7, my Unarmored Defense is 20AC
My DEX Saves are +7 with Advantage.
My Athletics checks are +6 with Advantage.
Level 8 I'll add +1 to STR and CON giving me a +1 AC and Athletics
Lately, my Evoker Wizard and I have become fond of me wading into combat, getting utterly surrounded by enemies, my knocking 3 of the on their butts (Bonus Shield Shove, Attack Shove, Extra Attack Shove) and then him launching a fireball right at my face.
So far I've never failed a DEX save (Advantage +7) and my Gladiator just LAUGHS AND LAUGHS as all the bad guys explode in fire...then everyone else comes from around the corner and mops up the enemies who are running around screaming in flaming terror.
Good times.
