I decided to make a new class inspired by Frog Dragon's Spellblade (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?158763-Spellblade-3-5-Warlock-inspired-fighter-mage-PEACH) and Portalblade (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?123486-Teleporty-stuff-(3-5-PEACH)). It works a bit like a Paladin with Warlock invocation-style abilities instead of spells, powering it all with a limited pool of points like a Sorcerer does for his metamagic.

HIT POINTS
Hit Dice: 1d8
Hit Points at 1st Level: 8 + your Constitution modifier
Hit Points at Higher Levels: 1d8 (or 5) + your Constitution modifier per Spellblade level after 1st

PROFICIENCIES
Armor: light armor, medium armor, shields
Weapons: simple weapons, greatswords, longswords, rapiers, shortswords
Tools: none
Saving Throws: Constitution, Intelligence
Skills: Choose two from Acrobatics, Arcana, Athletics, History, Insight, Intimidation and Perception

EQUIPMENT
You start with the following equipment, in addition to the equipment granted by your background:
• (i) scale mail or (b) leather armor
• (a) a greatsword or (b) any martial melee weapon without the heavy property and a shield
• (a) a dungeoneer's pack or (b) an explorer's pack
• Two handaxes

FONT OF POWER
As a spellblade you are able to utilize magical energies. This energy is represented by arcana points,
which allow you to manifest various magical effects through your weapon or your body.

ARCANA POINTS
You have a number of arcana points equal to your spellblade level + your Intelligence modifier. You can never have more arcana points than this value. Each turn you can only use a number of arcana points up to your Maximum Arcana as shown on the Spellblade table for your level. You regain all spent arcana points when you finish a long rest.

BLADE BOND
As a bonus action you can create a bond between yourself and a melee weapon you are proficient with and are holding, charging the weapon with magical energy and turning it into a conduit for channeling magic. You can have only one bonded weapon at a time. The weapon remains bonded to you for as long as you are carrying it or release the bond as a free action.
If you are holding the bonded weapon, you can't be unwillingly disarmed of that weapon through either mundane or magical means as long as you are conscious, but if you are not holding it and merely carrying it, it can still be lifted off your person as normal.

ARCANE SMITE
When you attack with your bonded weapon, you can spend a number of arcana points. The attack gains a bonus to its attack roll equal to half the amount of arcana points spent (rounded down) and deals 1d4 force damage per arcana point spent. The dice change to d6s at 6th level, d8s at 11th level and d10s at 16th level. You can not use arcane smite on an attack that is part of a blade arcanum.
Starting at 9th level, you do not have to spend any arcana points if you would only use one arcana point on Arcane Smite.

BLADE ARCANA
At 2nd level, you learn to shape your arcane energy into more refined forms. You gain two blade arcanum options of your choice. The arcanum options are detailed at the end of the class description. You learn more Blade Arcana as you gain more spellblade levels as shown on the Arcana Known column of the Spellblade table.
Additionally, when you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the arcana you know and replace it with another arcanum that you could learn at that level. A level prerequisite in an arcanum refers to spellblade level, not character level.

SPELLCASTING ABILITY
Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for your spellblade features, so you use your Intelligence whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Intelligence modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a spell or effect created by your spellblade features such as Blade Arcana.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

ARCANE FORM
At 3rd level, you choose a combat form that defines the nature of your fighting style and magic. Choose the Spellcleaver Form, Elementalist form or Portalblade Form, all detailed at the end of the class description.
Your choice grants you features when you choose it at 3rd level and again at 7th, 10th, 14th and 20th level.

ARCANE BURN
At 6th level, you learn to temporarily burn complex arcane energies into a simpler form. As a bonus action, you can block access to one of your blade arcana to gain 2 arcana points. When you do this, you select one of your blade arcana and become unable to use it until you finish a long rest. Once you perform an arcane burn, if you have no more uses of arcane burn left you gain a level of exhaustion. This exhaustion is removed by finishing a short or long rest.
At 6th level, you can use arcane burn once before having to finish a long rest to be able to use it again. You gain an additional use at 11th and 17th levels.

Still need to write all the flavor text for the class and archetypes, obviously. I'm also missing the capstone abilities for the Elementalist and Spellcleaver as well as some Spellcleaver-specific blade arcana so any suggestions are welcome. I'm having a hard time coming up with good class features for an anti-mage. Also, any art suggestions for the document are welcome since I haven't had the time to consider those yet.

11.7.2017 20:40 GMT: Reduced the arcana point costs of Arcane Agility, Arcane Door, Arcane Portal, Banishing Blade, Blade Curse, Draining Blade, Earthen Control's Passwall, Elemental Affinity, Elemental Blast, Ensnaring Blade's Ensnaring Strike, Healing Blade, Paralyzing Blade, Petrifying Blade, Stalling Blade and Telekinetic Blade. Changed Radiant Blade's name to Shining Blade. Flanking Blade can be reused for 1 arcana point. Healing Blade's healing now triggers upon hitting an opponent without having to spend a bonus action.
12.7.2017 21:15 GMT: Replaced Spellcleaver's Spell Shield with Silencing Blade. Changed casting in silence to casting without verbal or somatic components (Subtle Spell), moved it to be part of Silencing Blade and reduced the arcana point cost. Added Magic Resistance as the Spellcleaver capstone feature. Portalblade's Blade Portal cost reduction now able to be used starting at 3rd level.
13.7.2017 5:35 GMT: You can now use one-point Arcane Smites for free starting at level 9.
19.7.2017 21:10 GMT: Added Spellcleaver 3rd level feature Spell Defense, moved the part about melee spell attacks from Mage Hunt. Added new blade arcana Split Bond for dual wielding builds. Added flavor text to the class description, Spellcleaver and Elementalist. Elemental Shielding requires you to have Elemental Smite or Elemental Blade for static shield and caustic shield. Elemental Talent allows you to use the other elements for Protection from Energy. Fixed a bunch or grammatical and formatting errors.
20.7.2017 18:55 GMT: Added Portalblade flavor text. Arcane Door costs 2 instead of 3, but bringing others along costs 1 more, can use 4 more to cast as bonus action 1/day, now replenishes one use with a short rest.
