Smiting With a Level 5 Spell Slot

Hey everyone.

I need something clarified.

The Max Level smite is obviously in the use of a Level 4 Spell Slot. So, smiting with a level 5 slot

obviously has no additional effect. However, I just need to know if it can be done at all. Can a 5th level

slot be used to deal the damage of a 4th level slot? Additionally, in the case of a Sorcerer/ Paladin

multiclass...can 6th, 7th 8th, or 9th level slots be used in a similar manner....being used to deal the

damage of 4th Level Smites? Do, in theory, Sorcadins possess the potential fuel to supply...essentially...

11 4th level smites per long rest if they are a Paladin 2/ Sorcerer 18?

Reading the PBH there is no Spell Slot level cap on Smite, just a Damage cap of 5d8. So go nuts.

This is correct. Any spell slot above level 4 would just cap at the damage, but you can smite with your higher level slots if you got em. THB I don't think its worth it to smite with a 5th level or above slot, but thats personal opinion I guess.
