Another homebrewed race with racial HD instead of level adjustment. Obviously intended as a Mystic Theurge early-entry race, but perhaps could be used as single-caster clerics or wizards. Inspired by the Quintessons from Transformers. To do:feats to allow turning undead or summoning a familiar, more mechanics for the shifting faces, etc.

Physical Description: Pentavisages rank among the most bizarre races. Each pentavisage is a man-sized oval mass, with five mask-like faces arranged radially around it. Between each pair of faces (and on the lower portion of the main body) sprouts a long, slender tentacle that the pentavisage uses to manipulate its environment. A sustained jet of magical energy fires from the base of the main body, allowing the creature to ambulate via levitation.

Society: Pentavisages once held sway over entire worlds, ruling an interplanar empire with iron tentacles. Though their empire has greatly diminished in recent ages, they still maintain a rigidly hierarchial society where rank is determined by magical prowess.

Relations: Pentavisages are still despised for the legendary cruelty they displayed in eons past, when their empire reigned supreme. However, their numbers have dwindled greatly and the occasional lone pentavisage is sometimes permitted to join settlements to employ their magical talents.

Alignment and Religion: Pentavisages are strongly inclined towards law, and mildly inclined towards evil. Their ancestral deities have not been worshipped since the glory days of their empire, but their inherent divine spellcasting means they must worship some other deity or cause.

Adventurers: Those few pentavisages who chafe at their regimented (and senescing) society are driven to exploration and the pursuit of novelty. The vast majority of pentavisages are Mystic Theurges.

+2 Charisma, +2 Intelligence, +2 Wisdom, -2 Constitution, -2 Dexterity, -2 Strength: Pentavisages can only be described as brilliant, yet frail and fragile.

Medium: Pentavisages are Medium creatures and therefore receive no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.

Slow Speed: Pentavisages have a base speed of 20 feet.

Aberration: Pentavisages are creatures of the aberration type.

Darkvision (Ex): Pentavisages have darkvision 60 feet.

Faces (Ex): A pentavisage possesses five faces, only one of which is active at a given time. Once per round on its turn a pentavisage may rotate to activate a different face as a free action. Each face grants a particular bonus, as follows:

Wrath: +2 racial bonus on Concentration checks.
War: +1 racial bonus on Reflex saves.
Death: +1 racial bonus on Fortitude saves.
Wisdom: +1 racial bonus on Will saves.
Judgement: +2 racial bonus on Sense Motive checks.

Levitation (Su): A pentavisage's jet of magical energy keeps it perpetually suspended above the ground. It is immune to caltrops and similar effects, and essentially benefits from a permanent water walk effect. While in the area of an antimagic field or similar effect, a pentavisage collapses to the ground and must painstakingly drag itself with its tentacles at a rate of 5 feet (using two tentacles).

Magic Item Slots (Ex): A pentavisage may wear one headband or crown, up to five pairs of items in the eye slot (one per face, but only the item on the currently active face may be used), and up to five rings (one per tentacle). Any armour they wear must be specially crafted for them.

Spellcasting (Ex): A pentavisage casts spells as a 3rd-level divine caster (cleric or druid) and a 3rd-level arcane caster (sorcerer or wizard). The specific classes it emulates are chosen at character creation and cannot be changed. A pentavisage gains the spontaneous casting class feature of whatever divine class it emulates, as well as the domain spells and granted powers of a cleric (if it emulates that class).

Uncoordinated Tentacles (Ex): A pentavisage is clumsy and may only use two of its tentacles at a time, with the other three dragging on the ground. The tentacles may serve any purpose that a humanoid's arms and hands could.

Racial Hit Dice (Ex): A pentavisage begins with three levels of aberration, which provide 3d8 Hit Dice, a base attack bonus of +2, and base saving throw bonuses of Fort +1, Ref +1, and Will +3.

Racial Skills: A pentavisage’s aberration levels give it skill points equal to 6 × (2 + Int modifier, minimum 1). Its class skills are Concentration, Craft, Decipher Script, Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (religion), Profession, Sense Motive, and Spellcraft.

Racial Feats: A pentavisage’s aberration levels give it two feats.

Languages: Pentavisage adventurers begin play speaking Common. Pentavisages with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Abyssal, Aquan, Auran, Celestial, Draconic, Ignan, Infernal, Sylvan, and Terran.

Level Adjustment: +2.

Favoured Class: The spellcasting classes that a given pentavisage emulates are treated as favoured classes for that pentavisage.

Quintesson Judge by Manbu1977 (http://manbu1977.deviantart.com/art/TRANSFORMERS-LEGENDS-QUINTESSON-JUDGE-427900006)

Improved Coordination
Unlike most of your race, you are dexterous enough to use more than two tentacles at a time.

Prerequisite
Pentavisage, character level 3rd.

Benefit
You may use an additional tentacle to manipulate objects or wield a weapon.

Special
When you take this feat, you qualify for Multiweapon fighting. Replace any Two-Weapon fighting and similar feats you possess with the Multiweapon equivalent.

You may take this feat up to three times, each time gaining the ability to use an additional tentacle at a time.

Improved Levitation
Your levitation frees you from being earthbound.

Prerequisite
Pentavisage, character level 6th.

Benefit
You gain a fly speed of 20 feet (perfect). You lose this flight whenever you would lose your ability to levitate.

Once per round as a full-round action you may jet at a speed of 200 feet. You must move in a straight line, but do not provoke attacks of opportunity while jetting.

Five-Faced
You are truly two-faced (or five-faced, as the case may be).

Prerequisite
Pentavisage, character level 18th.

Benefit
All of your faces are active at the same time. This grants you several benefits, as follows:

You gain the bonus from each of your faces at the same time via your Faces ability.

All magic goggles and lenses you are wearing on your faces are active at the same time and may be used.

You gain the All-Around Vision (Ex) special quality. Your symmetrically placed faces allow you to look in any direction, providing a +4 racial bonus on Spot and Search checks. You can’t be flanked.

Really like it. Would probably change it to have Judgement give a bonus to Perception instead of Sense Motive, gain No Spellcasting and No Racial Hit Dices. But it can now take Racial Paragon class level instead. Something like this :

HD: 6 ; BaB +0.50 ; Saves Good Will ; Skills +4

1- Primary Spellcasting +1, Theurge
2- Secondary Spellcasting +1, Primary Ability Boost
3- Primary Spellcasting +1, Improved Levitation
4- Secondary Spellcasting +1, Greater Faces
5- Primary Spellcasting +1, Secondary Ability Boost

Theurge : Your Caster level for each of your Spellcasting class is equal to the highest of all of them (to a maximum equal to your Hit Dice).

Primary Spellcasting : Choose either an Arcane or Divine Spellcasting class and you gain a Spellcasting level in that class

Secondary Spellcasting : You gain a Spellcasting level in the class you didnt take as your Primary

Improved Levitation : You gain this as a bonus feat

Greater Faces : Double the bonus you gain from Faces

Primary Ability Boost : You gain +2 to a Mental Caracteristic of your choice (Int, Wis or Cha)

Secondary Ability Boost : You gain +2 to a Mental Caracteristic of your choice (it must be different than the one you choose as your Primary Ability boost)

As a level 5 character you will look something like that : Spellcasting as a Wizard 3 (CL 5th) and as a Cleric 2 (CL 5th) with +4 Int, +4 Wis, +2 Cha, -2 Str, -2 Dex, -2 Cha, Fly 20ft (Perfect), One of theses bonus (+4 Concentration, +2 Reflex, +2 Fortitude, +2 Will or +2 Sense Motive). Sound about right, not as a strong as a Full Spellcaster, Poor Combat capabilities (HP wise and Attacks), Slow Movement (even if its Flight) but greater Versatility

I like your spin on the idea. A monster class might be an acceptable way to progress to Mystic Theurge as well.
