I recently came back to the forum after a prolonged absence, and my third-party avatar has lost its hotlinking privileges. No big deal, except that I guess I don't have permissions to change my avatar, so I can't get rid of it! Help?

What do you mean, "you don't have permissions"? What happens when you go to here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions)? Or, if that link doesn't work, when you go to Settings (top right of every page) -> General Settings

Got it--thanks! I was following the link to edit my avatar that I found in the FAQ, and didn't see it on the profile edit page, which is where I thought it would be.

While you're here, I also can't seem to edit my signature. The save button gives me a 403 (forbidden) error.

What are you trying to change? Sometimes, the issue is that you are trying to put in a forbidden character (like double dash), and the forum is not too good at telling you that is the problem.

It was the double dash. Thanks so much for your help! Guess I've got some things to relearn and remember about the forum...
