i think our latest issue is the incredible rise of OOC threads. I cant find its source, but I can link it to the superhigh number of EOTW plots, linked to my Rebel Assault EOTW plot! :smallfurious:

I have a better idea. How about we explain why there are Star Wars characters in a pseudo-medieval setting? There are loads of Star Wars roleplaying rooms out there on the 'Net with no need to run over poor, low-tech existing characters over here. :smalltongue:

Nightwing
2007-08-08, 10:51 AM
Or, we could, i dont know, STICK TO THE POINT OF THE THREAD!

I think he was speaking of the poor, low-tech characters who, while talented, only have access to a sword, spear, shield, and some armor that can be easily cut in two by a lightsaber. :smalltongue: How sad indeed.
But really, though, it sort of ruins the experience when you have people in Jedi outfits...with working lightsabers and the power of the Force, no less...in a fictional DnD-based freeform setting.

LordVader
2007-08-08, 12:01 PM
Well, if the stuff is magical, I say it should resist the lightsaber/power sword/whatever. That's how I play it with my characters' Power Swords. If it isn't magical, they're pretty much dead to rights at the hands of anyone in Town, so...:P

Nightwing
2007-08-08, 12:03 PM
I always assumed that too. How can it cut throws something magical any better that a regular sword can?

Shabal
2007-08-08, 12:30 PM
I'm not talking about magical things.
You'll notice, that amongst all of my characters with the exception of one of them, none are magical.
None of them own anything magical.
And think about it, Nightwing. Magical armor will relent just as easily against an unthinkably hot blade made of radiation, even despite its bonuses.

LordVader
2007-08-08, 12:31 PM
Well, I play it that my power sword doesn't cut through things automatically, it just acts as a magical sword with a high enchantment bonus. If I had a lightsaber, that's how I would play it. And Shabal, I seem to recall one of your characters owning a tank and several high-tech weapons...:smalltongue:

Shabal
2007-08-08, 12:35 PM
Yes, but none of them are magical. :smalltongue:
I'm trying to cut down on that, of course. I had him make himself a Doru*.
*Doru: four foot long two-bladed spear, one end a leaf-shaped blade, the other a spike.

LordVader
2007-08-08, 12:36 PM
Nice. Anyways, Nightwing, just treat the lightsaber as a magical sword and I don't see any problems. Just don't have it auto-cut through anything against other people and it'll be fine.

Hey Vader - if we are playing under transparency rules; lasers are now magical. Meaning, they won't work in an AMF :smalltongue:.

LordVader
2007-08-08, 12:42 PM
AK, lasers are not subject to transparency, where did you get that? That doesn't make any sense. When we had the discussion about transparency, everyone agreed that most technological items are considered Extraordinary, and thus cannot be suppressed by antimagic. Only a few tech things, such as wormholes and force fields, are considered Supernatural. Lasers are not considered Supernatural, they are Extraordinary, like most technology things, and thus work in a AMF.

Admiral_Kelly
2007-08-08, 12:44 PM
Sorry, some of these thing you are doing are beyond normal physics, such as the lightsaber, and they are special so they count under the transparency ruling. Don't be a hypocrite.

LordVader
2007-08-08, 12:44 PM
Lasers are not. Lightsabers are. Please point me to where we decided that lasers do not work under an AMF, Kelly.

Admiral_Kelly
2007-08-08, 12:45 PM
Why only lightsabers? They are a technological weapon powered by lasers. If you ask me, all laser weapons should not work in an AMF if we have transparency.

Also, I never agreed to the transparency ruling and I continue to ignore it.

LordVader
2007-08-08, 12:46 PM
Lightsabers are not lasers. A laser is a relatively simple mechanical device that shoots a simple beam of light that causes physical damage. Them getting suppressed by an AMF would be complete bullcrap, AK. And no one asked you.:smalltongue:

Admiral_Kelly
2007-08-08, 12:47 PM
So is psiconics, but you guys decided to make them count as magic. Getting my point?

LordVader
2007-08-08, 12:48 PM
AK, psionics are much closer to magic then a laser is.:smallannoyed:

Nightwing
2007-08-08, 12:49 PM
Lets not turn this into another LV arguing with AK thread.

LordVader
2007-08-08, 12:50 PM
More like "AK complaining about transparency again thread". I say that lasers getting suppressed by an AMF is ridiculous. And if I ever make a SW character, which I probably will eventually, he's gonna be more like Boba Fett then a Jedi.

blackout
2007-08-08, 12:52 PM
OK, let's back off for a minute. AK, lasers are not magical. :smallannoyed: Their really nothing more than super-flashlights.

Admiral_Kelly
2007-08-08, 12:53 PM
Close to being magic != magic. The whole point of transparency was to give the AMF another edge which it dose not deserve.

But in honesty I'm beating a dead horse here- why did I even bring this up? Let's get back on topic.

Metis
2007-08-08, 12:56 PM

I'm playing a taun-taun that was experimented on and made smarter by a rogue scientist serving under Thrawn, but the character hasn't made an appearance yet.

I'll post more backstory later,

Plus, he'll be a hidden character. So he'll have to be found to be unlocked.

Atreyu the Masked LLama

Atreyu plays another awakened ungulate. I think it'd grow stale rather quickly. I suppose that I could tweak the personality. Make him less "cute but dumb" and more "kinda cute, but smart."

I may make him a hidden character and see if anyone can find him and unlock him as a playable PC.

Nightwing
2007-08-08, 05:03 PM

Emperor Ing
2007-08-08, 05:03 PM
Were not gonna freelance, were going to abide by rules, and be united as one.

LordVader
2007-08-08, 05:04 PM
Hehehe... Those were the ones that attacked the Station, correct?
And Nightwing, I've never heard of someone calling a mod in Town because the other person was roleplaying properly. The Thieves' Guild is all-encompassing, it's not just thieves. It's just called the Thieves' Guild. So they'll see it as freelancing if you don't strike a deal with them first, and they will come after you. It's called RP'ing.

Admiral_Kelly
2007-08-08, 05:07 PM
That would be correct. The whole syndicate is pretty fishdumped.

Nightwing
2007-08-08, 05:07 PM
Fine, if all you want is a deal then a deal you will get. you just said " If you want to do some thing fun my omnipotent guild will come and kill you all even though we have nothing to do with you because I am being a power freak!"

Emperor Ing
2007-08-08, 05:07 PM
Then we can make a deal with them. However, its best to leave them alone, unless they wanted to be blasted to oblivion or eaten alive.

THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID! THE THIEVES' GUILD COMING AFTER THEM WOULD BE AN IC RESPONSE! AND THEY'D OBVIOUSLY PUT UP A FIGHT! IT'S CALLED RPING!:smallmad:

It's best to obey the TG unless you want to be ninja'd, blasted by giant mechs, or electrocuted to death.:smallamused:

I was thinking more along the lines of "We give you half are money and you dont kill us"

LordVader

They're not stupid. They have enough money. They're going to want a more binding agreement.

Emperor Ing
2007-08-08, 05:23 PM

2007-08-08, 05:24 PM

LordVader
2007-08-08, 05:39 PM
What idiot is going to pay a million GP for a kill? That's ridiculous, you won't get any clients. The TG charges thousands at the most, probably.

Nightwing
2007-08-08, 05:42 PM
yes, but this is sure kill. if we dont kill them we will give you yoir money back and pay you 100 gp.

Admiral_Kelly
2007-08-08, 05:47 PM
How about the pay depends on the job? If your going to kill a random schmuck on the street 100gp will do; but if you want to kill someone like Artemis 2mil gp?

Alright, if I could interrupt here, 'cause it looks like people don't really understand the base of GP/SP currency.
A silver piece is about the equivalent of a buck, maybe three. It's the typical standard for currency, a silver piece (maybe two or three) is a good day's pay for an NPC commoner.
A gold piece is ten times that. It's about the equivalent of twenty bucks. With that, you can buy a pound of rare spices, fifty feet of rope, one or two living goats.
A million gold pieces is a lotsa money.
You're not gonna find anyone in the Town with that kinda money.

Nice. Anyways, Nightwing, just treat the lightsaber as a magical sword and I don't see any problems. Just don't have it auto-cut through anything against other people and it'll be fine.
Him not go for every auto-kill he can take a shot at? You do realize we're talking about Nightwing here, right?

Draken
2007-08-08, 07:12 PM
Here goes the maths for the most expensive assassins of all D&D:

NEP x 4 x 1,000 gp.

These are the most expensive in the whole Epic levels Handbook, they would charge you 4,000 gp just to kill a beggar in the streets (1° level Peasant). But of course, they don't kill beggars, they kill only big figures.

Go arround the maths.

Now excuse me, I will look out to find how Artemis died, then I will slap Erica with a bill right in her face.

And it will rain chaos on her nose if she doesn't pay :smalltongue:

Actually, back in the day, the Masked Troupe usually killed for only 250. We had official rules for assassins, which I can bring up if you all are interested in them.

Plus, back when I was a young llama 1,000,000 GP was not much to throw around. Check the mecha-garage thread to see true spending insanity.

Ah, the way things change. The Masked Troupe was interesting. An assassin's guild posing as a theater group. The mafia also took out hits. The PM's flew fast and furious.
