3.5e Noob DM needs help with ongoing campaign ideas!

So here's what's happening. A party of 7 level 3s has just finished rescuing a young boy worshiper of Wee Jas from the hands of a Half-Orc "spellsword". The party rushed in to help the boy and killed the Half-Orc but didn't ask too many questions as it was the 2nd session of their first quest. The Half-Orc was carrying a little statuette of a demon that was enchanted with something unknown (that glowed intensely when detect magic was cast [originally intended to be somewhat indestructible {hardened greatly}]).

After returning the boy to the elder in the village, the party explains to the elder what had happened and shows him the demon statuette. The Elder was shocked and told them that these events fit in a vague prophecy in which he does not know all the details, but he knows it is a very bad sign. He said the king's wizard in a neighboring city was the one who mentioned this vague prophecy to him and the party should go to him for more answers...

That being said, I'm not sure what comes next.

To give you an idea of what PCs I'm dealing with:
- lvl3 male Human Paladin (chaotic good Homebrew)
- lvl3 male Human Geomancer (Homebrew)
- lvl3 male Tiefling Wizard (true neutral)
- lvl3 male Human Rogue (ninja like)
- lvl3 female Half-Elf Ranger (likes her bow)
- lvl3 female Divine Bard (healer w songs Homebrew)
- lvl3 male Dwarven Fighter (wants to become Dwarven Defender)

The setting is an open world that is made from scratch with things that I add on the fly.

Here is what I would need ideas for:
- who made the demon statue
- what this demon statue is for
- what the demon statue is really enchanted with
- who this Wizard is and how he should be built
- what the prophecy is about and if it is real or not

The demon statue could have been made by evil outsiders on their plane of existence, and never intended to be on the material plane. However, due to distortions caused by fluxuations in the ebb and flow of the multiverse, strange portals, no bigger than a shield or so, have been popping open around the material plane causing things from all over the other planes. (this gives you future plot hooks)

The statue is actually neede for a ritual to bind Angels and must be hard enough to withstand all of the forces fighting against each other (think a pokeball that traps angels and good outsiders in eternal torment). This is only one of many and there's a war a brewin. The statue can be enchanted with... whatever really, you don't actually need to make it a real spell.

The wizard could be a conjuration specialist or some sort. He could have made contact with Limbo or something causing him to be a little *crazy* but also giving him a strange trait that gives him mere glimpses of possible futures (10 seconds, at the most, he can't control them).

The prophecy could be one possible future that the wizard has seen glimpses of.
