Tabaxi coloration

I don't have Volo's yet (ordered, but not yet arrived). But I'm impatient. Do tabaxis' colorations come from domestic cats, or great cats? If the former, then you have colorations for Persian, Siamese, Tabby, Calico, etc. If the later, then you have tiger, cheetah, panther, etc.

I know it's just fluff (pun intended), so maybe it's both.

Forgotten Realms (Maztican) tabaxi have leopard/jaguar coloration. Other settings probably have other varieties; my home setting has both Lynxish and and Caracalish tabaxi clans
