Clarification on oddly worded text

I found a home brew class I really like, that includes a feature of rune carving to inscribe runes on your weapon that store spells. Could someone help clarify some of the text that says

"The runes are not expended as the spell is activated should you have more than 1 spell cast into runes, otherwise the rune is expended." is this saying that if I have more then one spell inscribed they never run out? The wording is weird to me.

If I had to make a guess based on .. practically nothing:

You can store more than one spell in the rune/runes.
Striking a target and activating the spell expends that spell.
It does not expend all of the spells; if you have remaining spells stored, those spells are still stored and can be used on other strikes.
If you have spent all of the spells stored, the runes are now completely spent and you must (do some thing) to refresh the runes before you can store more spells.

Would have to see the actual full text of the class/ability you're trying to interpret to give a better informed analysis.
