Good race and class for a treasure hunter?

Im making a Nathan Drake-like character who uses grappling hooks and maps. Any good races or classes for this? Balanced homebrew and ua is acceptable.

Pretty much any class can take a grappling hook or cartographers tools. Strength and Athletics governs climbing and jumping, but a thief rogue with Second Story Work and expertise in Athletics is probably your best bet. Athlete feat works as well. Just don't dump STR and you're set.

Do you guys think matt mercer's gunslinger class would work?

Thief Rogue is pretty obvious and a good choice.

Others would be Bard, Valor probably. It gets Expertise. Martial weapons and has spells to buff your skill checks.

Monk could be nice for the feather fall ability but it might be a stretch.

Knowledge Cleric could also be a caster with Guidance helping with skill checks. Knowledge and tools not a problem.

Fighter gets a lot of ASIs if feats seem like they could help.
