- ''It was a good plan. It almost worked.''

- ''It was like all the rest of your plans. Criminal, cruel, and it failed''.

What do you ''see''?

I see that the post reflects the title, and I have no idea what you're asking. :P

It's a post plan fail, going with stereotypes:

The party Wizard is consoling the party Rogue (or vice versa), the party Paladin is being a judgy prick per usual.

But yeah could be anyone. A group of villains or Gods or heck even awakened beasts could work.

Assuming both quotes are said by the same person, to the same other person, about the same event. A few thoughts:
- The speaker seems to be just fine thinking that a criminal and cruel plan can be a good plan, so the speaker is obviously very pragmatic, possibly to the point of being evil aligned.
As far as alignment goes, it definitely leans towards evil by being cruel. Likely it is chaotic as well by being criminal.
The speaker might, however, be a good person, but be observant enough to know the target's mindset and speak in reference to it.

- The person being talked to is likely more of a mastermind than the person doing the dirty work. If not, than the repeated failures of the past would have landed that person in prison or in death.
This must also mean that the person's plans don't actually all lead to failure, or they wouldn't have the resources to execute the plan.
So, probably a person of intelligence, but low wisdom. They have great plans, but the plans don't account for the unforseen.

Two people arguing, one of them is feeling self-righteous in comparison to the other. There isn't enough dialogue to tell if that feeling is justified and neither is there enough to tell if they are team-mates or enemies (the second one might have actively stopped the first's plan).

- ''It was a good plan, it almost worked.''.

A friend consoling another friend on his well thought out plan that sounded really good on paper and probably would've worked but the enemy had somehow anticipated it or had some element of the situation that was unexpected that rendered the plan moot.

- ''It was like all the rest of your plans: criminal, cruel, and it failed''.

Some self-righteous member of the party is berating a rogue, or some other shady character for their plan not having worked as expected.

There isn't enough dialogue to tell if that feeling is justified and neither is there enough to tell if they are team-mates or enemies (the second one might have actively stopped the first's plan).

That is why it is vague i'm guessing. :)
