View Full Version : What's the best "2/20" build you can think of?

Let's say you're only allowed to take two levels in any given class, but are starting at level 20. What does your build look like, with all Paizo and Dreamscarred Press material allowed?

Secondarily, because this would change the answer significantly, what build would you pick if we were using Spheres of Power and the above stipulations?

Do you mean no class can have more than 2 levels in the build? That rules out most casters, unless you can progress your main casting class's spells with every PrC.

Perhaps some kind of mundane with TOB might manage something with constraints like that. Monk/Barbarian/Fighter/Ranger/Crusader/Warblade/ etc. But That seems kind of limiting. I'm not sure any level 20 PC could be a competent level 20 with those constraints.

Or do you mean showcase a build that has only two levels of a special ingredient?

If its the latter, then, for example, 2 levels of Sublime Chord in a bard build can be pretty awesome. Something like Bard 9/WarWeaver 1/Sublime Chord2/WarWeaver+4/(Heartfire Fanner or Abjurant Champion)5.

This gives you a face/buffer/BFC bard build that gets 9th level spells, a whole mess of buffs to unleash on the party in the first round, then the ability to --depending on the last ingredient) either Snowflake Wardance into combat while singing your head off and beat face, or Blast/BFC/Buff/Debuff more with spells and bardic musics each round (including songs that grant temporary use of fighter feats).

Edit: I don't know SoP, so I'm not saying anything about the second part of your question.

I don't know Dreamscarred Press PrCs well enough to say for sure, but the answer is probably some full caster class with 2 levels in every PrC that advances casting.

That's certainly the answer in 3.5.

Otherwise it's something that includes Paladin and Scaled Fist Monk most likely

Maybe some sort of Supermount build?

Wizard 2 / Drow Paragon 1 / Master Specialist 2

... and then a bunch of PrCs because that's what we do.

If equipment trick is valid for early entry, full caster builds are easy to pull off. Maybe, Wizard2/cleric1/mystic theurge2 would work as a starting point, at which point you'd need to find enough prestige classes to fill out the rest of the build, preferably without lighting all of your feats on fire.

Build solved.

A caster could be made to work with the build, but a martial initiator would work WELL.
Monk 2/ Brawler 2/Fighter 2/Slayer 2/Rogue 2/Stalker 2/Ordained Defender Warder 2/Mystic 2/Warlord 2/Zealot 2.

That takes advantage of initiator level being class level +1/2 levels in other classes. More that you can swap maneuvers every 4 initiator levels. It's Wis based through the first 16 levels, and uses Cha too for the last 4. If 3.5 were allowed, Swordsage could help remove Cha from the equation.
