When a duskblade channels a spell through an attack, or a warlock channels an eldritch blast using hideous blow, does it provoke an attack of opportunity? Does the caster have to cast defensively and use Concentration?

Swift action, so no AOO. Channelling is a swift action, yes?

Just like quicken spell.

Duskblade's channeling explicitly states it does not provoke an AoO.

Making the attack with hideous blow does not provoke an AoO, however hideous blow itself does provoke an AoO.

This is why duskblades get combat casting as a bonus feat, to help with the defensive casting check.

It isn't a swift action, Arby. It's done as part of the same action as the attack.

Ah, right. Got it then.

Clearly, I need to get PHB2, or more thoroughly read such rules (doh!)

Hang on a second... While re-reading the entry, it seems that the ability does not provoke attacks of opportunity. And re-reading Jasdoif's post, it seems that I misunderstood him and he said the same thing.

Okay, so ignore my rambling on combat casting. I guess they get that for buffs and the like.
