Is there a cheap way to overcome this? 3.5 had Sundark Goggles which removed the penalty. But i'm not sure if it carried over to PF?

PF has Lenses of Darkness (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/h-l/lenses-of-darkness/), though they are not cheap. You can lower the light level in some cheap ways though, e.g. Shadowcloy.

daylight adaptation is the name of the feat. honestly, just ask your gm if he'll let you spend the 10 bucks on the sundark lenses, it's not going to break any games
