Skills, Trained and Untrained

Since I can't find the original 3rd edition rules anywhere that isn't updated for 3.5, can someone tell me whether or not 3rd edition originally had trained only specific skills?

Thank you, my DM was saying that 3e didn't have trained and untrained skills and that Iaijutsu Focus is trained only because of that.

What 3.5 removed is class limited skills - everyone can take ranks in any skill, just subject to the skill being a class skill or a cross-class skill.
