So in The Marvelous Marshal Handbook (http://www.ruleofcool.com/smf/index.php?topic=715.0), several sword/board shield feats are mentioned as for "Team Sparta" so, how many teamwork-based/general shield feats are there, and would a leadership cohort of a bunch of warriors with said feats be feasible (presuming the entire campaign is mundane)

You might want to look into 'Allied Defense' from Shining South. It allows you to grant the AC bonus from Combat Expertise to all adjacent allies (+yourself). Improved Combat Expertise just modifies how Combat Expertise works so Allied Defense applies to full BAB. And Combat Expertise grants a dodge bonus which stacks.

As a consequence, a 2-deep phalanx of Fighter 20s could have every 2/3 fighters in the back row wielding a whip (15' reach) with maximized Combat Expertise granting AC+40 to all fighters. An AC of 60 (=10+10(armor/dex)+20(dodge)+20(dodge)) combined with the front row attacking at +30 (=20(Bab)+6(Str)+2(Greater weapon focus)+2(Melee weapon mastery)) provides melee dominance in most situations where that is relevant.

The most notable lack here is any means to deal with targeted spells or area of effect magic. If you happen to have 1/3 of the backline functioning as wizards who cast AMF, this becomes a pretty solid tactic.
