O-CHUL

Literally the two most opposite characters in the entire comic. One's a paladin paragon of Good, the other's a psychotic, ultraviolent, womanizing monster. It's like Captain America vs Alex DeLarge. The fact that they could even exist in the same space without immediately killing each other is kind of amazing.

I;m gonna go with O-Chul

Fakenamington", "Badass ranger", "Brokeass ranger", "The New and Improved"

It's closer than it used to be - Belkar has become a lot more interesting, and O-Chul's last appearance was lackluster - but still.

And fight. And heal.

As well as resist anything that gives saves and survive being stabbed. I guess Ranger is better at specializing against one type of enemy, tracking or being stealthy. Admittedly I have always hated ranger so I'm extremely biased.

The ranger can also fight and heal.

What can survive being stabbed...? Ranger has the STR based TWF and swift hunter (making a 1 level dip and a feat go a long way). Admittedly; I've never liked paladins.

Technically, PeeLee never said Rangers can't fight and heal. Just that Paladins fight and heal better.

Did I ever say they couldn't? You said paladins were only better than rangers in one way. I quoted that, and posted two more. If you refuse to understand your own initial argument, I can hardly be blamed.

Hey now they are way better at telling other people their fun is wrong, ruining plots & story arcs with a 1st level ability, and becoming severely nerfed for genuine moments of mortal weakness than Rangers. =P

Again, less powerful god than an actual, factual puppet.

*less divine god than a puppet.

I'm pretty sure Belkar could take the puppet in a 1 on 1 god fight (possibly even in a fight against all the puppet's followers as well given Elan is still pretty support even with the prc and I doubt the orcs could stand against Belkar). It might be tough as I don't think Belkar has favored enemy: Puppet but he would probably eventually win.

While O-Chul threatened to gut (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0666.html) Belkar with his bare hands, I'm quite sure based on his dynamic with the Mitd that he would be all aboard the redemption train (if he were somehow convinced that Belkar had actually boarded it).

However... well, I'm abstaining from this one. For now, at least.

While O-Chul threatened to gut (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0666.html) Belkar with his bare hands[...]Likely an exaggeration. He might punish Belkar in some way, but he probably wouldn't flat out kill Belkar.

It would be really interesting to see some more O-Chul/Belkar interaction, especially now that Belkar might be on the path towards redemption.

Oh man, now I'm actually imagining a scenario where Banjo, Belkar, and maybe the Dark One wind up in a new pantheon. Redcloak would have to acknowledge/tacitly worship a puppet god and one of the PCs!

Do you think O-Chul could beat the stuffing out of Belkar?

I don't think so. Both are martial classes, but Belkar is probably higher level than O-Chul.

I don't think so. Both are martial classes, but Belkar is probably higher level than O-Chul.

O-Chul's paladin levels are pretty worthless due to them dumping charisma (against Belkar it essentially gives a few extra points of damage once from the smite) and possibly a first level paladin spell. His main advantage is an extremely high con and fighter feats.

Meanwhile, Belkar is a dual wielding halfling with several strange feat expenditures, rage and favored enemy (human). Belkar's level is estimated to be 2 more than O-Chul's according to class and geekery thread. He also presumably has many more magic items than O-Chul considering he was recently freed.

Belkar probably wins unless O-Chul spent his feats quite well. Favored enemy (human), rage and power attack with two weapon fighting is pretty good damage in the OOTS universe where feats are spent liberally and synergy is not that common. Meanwhile O-Chul has a heap of health, no class features and a bunch of feats. He does pretty good damage being capable of seriously hurting Redcloak with nothing but a metal bar but at the same time Redcloak's AC and health may just suck with out buffs as he is a very casting focused cleric.

Good analysis, I didn't know Belkar had favoured enemy (human). That alongside probably higher level and his better magic item selection (a reasonable assumption, as you say) make me think Belkar has a clear advantage, unless O-Chul has some goodness (optimisation - which, as you say, is uncommon) that we don't know about.
