You can check your User Profile (under the User CP or Quick Links menus above) to see if your avatar is linked properly.

And your avatar will look cooler if you use color #F0E7D3 (or 240 Red, 231 Green, 211 Blue; or 94.12% Red, 90.59% Green, 82.75% Blue) for your background, rather than white it will blend in with the site background better.
