It's never too early to start thinking about halloween, at least in my fractured mind. It's the only time of the year when wearing chainmail and carrying around a bow & arrows is considered MORE socially acceptable than wearing street clothes. (It also happens to be the perfect time of year for a good horror campaign).

My gaming group is allready planning on dressing up together as an adventuring party of some kind. I'm not sure what the heck I'm going to do, but I've got a few ideas (and I'd better get started). I'm thinking of going a witch/druid route, with a heavy black hood, flowers in the hair, maybe some sticks sewn onto the back of gloves in a woodland freddy kruegar thing...

But the main reason I made this post was to show off something one of my friends is doing, that I think is too awesome for words. He's planning on being a wizard, complete with magic wands, and a big honkin' magic staff he's working on.
And scrolls.

He's painting them on his computer, and is planning to print them out, roll them up, and tie some thread around them. He didn't describe the spell exactly as it is in D&D, but it's still something I thought people here might appreciate seeing. The friend making these isn't actually in my gaming group, but I'm bugging him to print off some extras for us

Anyone else here start planning their halloween way too far in advance? What's everyone planning to be, any good costume ideas?

Don't force him to make too many of those scrolls, he'll just get worse and worse at making them.

Whoa. We don't have Halloween where I'm from, but this scroll looks good.

This is Halloween, this is Halloween/
Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Halloween/

In this town, we call home/
Everyone hails to the Pumpkin Song/

I keep saying every year that I'm going to design a totally kick-ass Halloween costume, and every year I put it off for too long.

Holy crap, that scroll is awesome! Tell that guy to level up the next time he actually can get 8 hours of rest!

If I can actually get a chance to work on the costume in between home projects and grad school, I'm gonna go as Val Hallen (http://www.angelfire.com/rpg/marvelclassic/characters/val.html), the Viking God of Rock.

Val Hallen is good, but I'd be more impressed with the Infragable Crunk.

I'm the guy in the back holding up the roof. (http://www.ryanjpeters.com/max/files/costumes/Halloween02.jpg) Halloween '02 at my house.

Granted, I was a very skinny Hulk, but I'd get foul called on me if I dressed as Krunk.

I dunno, he's made a few allready... he's actually talking about making a spellbook, homemade buckling cover and everything, just for the heck of it.
But I'm not asking him to make new ones, just extra of ones that he's allready made.

That'd be pretty cool. Don't ever let something as unimportant as "real life" get in the way of the glory of halloween! :smallwink:
