With halloween comming up I want to do something a little creepy and a little light harted. The setting will be Toulon's abandoned marrionette theater. I figure 5 or 6 CR10-12 tiny shin-stabbing murder puppets with creepy dead doll eyes.

I figure I'd tap the vast pool of playgrounder creativity for inspiration. Many thanks.

Well in one campaign I had the players square off against a multiverse version of characters they had already encountered, leveled up, in the form of sentient Sesame Street style muppets. Refugees in this world and forced to do evil their dimension burned down and they refer to fire as "The Destroyer", I forgot the stats I had for the muppet template. I wrote they had damage reduction against bludgeoning weapons and were vulnerable to fire. They could also stretch and automatically one size less (ie small). Best part is they had an effect called a puppeteer, the guy existing in the ethereal plane and could be attacked their, having less powers than their puppet. Destroying the puppet summons the puppeteer to the material plane. If the Puppeteers are always True Neutral, but they have a compulsion to perform their art. If not talked to and reasoned with or slain, the puppeteer will flee and will craft a new puppet in 1d6 days per ecl and return to the etherial plane.

These look like a good option (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/constructs/doll-soulbound/).
You can even upgrade them to any level (it has an example of a 9th level sorcerer). I know it's pathfinder but it shouldn't be too hard to convert.

Animate objects spell can do that, albeit not at that CR.

Had a buddy back in college that ran a game for us after we had just watched the movie Dead Silence (he liked to run one shots based on movies he saw) Well the main villain infiltrated our party and ended up "killing" one of the players, we saw him as deathly ill. And she was treating him. Well she was actually using him as a puppet. And was basically screwing with his spine to make him move his mouth and what not. It was a little disturbing but a really interesting fight as she had free action powers that allowed her to control him and use him as a construct to fight, it couldn't be a caster as the person is dead.

Animate objects spell can do that, albeit not at that CR.

Minor Servitor spell from Savage Species makes free willed sentient Animated Objects. Lay some evil templates on their and viola, evil puppetry.

Homunculus may look like a toy

Dragon magazine:
Carrionette (#339) is Tiny, 2 HD, and CR 3
Tin Golem (#341) - somewhere I seen picture which depicted that golem as a tin soldier (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tin_soldier)

Dragonlance:
Kani Doll (Bestiary Of Krynn, Revised) Diminutive, 2 HD, CR 1

Kingdoms of Kalamar:
Coffin Guardian (Deathright) is Tiny, 5 HD, CR 4; the book doesn't specify how it looks, but it vulnerable to rust, have breath weapon, and armed with tiny longsword
Guardian Effigy (Dangerous Denizens: The Monsters of Tellene) is Diminutive (thus looks like a toy), 5 HD, CR 4

Ravenloft:
Doll Golem (Denizens of Dread) is Tiny, 7 HD, CR 8

Carrionettes from Ravenloft got updated to 3.5 in Dragon magazine #339

However, they are only CR 3, and only list a dash on the Advancement line.

Edit: D'oh! Should have read all replies before answering. Poster above me already listed them.

Minor servitor seems to fit my needs the best, the flexibility of being able to apply templates and class levels should let me create some quality nightmare full.

Only getting 1d3 charisma is a little tough as far as saving throws are concerned. Can anyone think of a good charisma boost for constructs, template or otherwise?

The first concept that is starting to come together is a white porcelain doll lady with jet black hair. Shadow template and a few levels of warlock for spider climb and summon swarm. She climbs around on the ceiling with disjointed limbs, summoning swarms of spiders from her mouth. Bonus if I can get her Web as an SLA.

You can use raggamoffyns(or however they are spelled) that are actually controlling children. Definitely not light hearted, but fits a creepy Halloween theme.
I can't seem to remember, but wasn't there wax dolls/constructs that passed as human somewhere?

You can give her a weapon of legacy that's intelligent and can cast Web 5/day on its own. Plus, they have to decide what to do with the evil artifact after fighting her, so bonus points for that.

I might just use two levels of your homebrew web-spinner class. Webs, darkvision and a little ac boost should put her right where she needs to be.

That would work too! Glad you liked it!
