Inspired by the invisible excaliber wielded by Arturia in the Fate series, I was wondering how raw it would be for invisibility + permanency on a weapon. Would the invisibility break when the weapon was used in an attack? It is the item that is invisible, not the wielder. It would be the equivalent of an ogre finding an invisible person, picking them up and smacking them into someone else. Does invisibility break at that point?

It would probably have to be Greater Invisibility. And RAW I don't think that it does anything.

Whether it gives bonuses raw is irrelevant. Just wondering if invisibility + permanency is enough. I understand in the case of Excaliber, it would be an artifact equivalent, and could pretty much bend the rules however. I am wanting an npc to have a similar effect on a repeating hand crossbow with bolts coated in black lotus extract as an assassin.

There is also the spell "Hidden Blades" which makes a weapon invisible for 10 minutes per level. It also fails to explicitly state what effect this has.
3.5 had a blurring weapon enchantment that allowed sneak attack enabling, so that might be a good start?

There is a RAW option, Unseen (http://www.archivesofnethys.com/MagicWeaponsDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Unseen) Weapon Enchantment. It uses greater invisibility in it's crafting.

Then again, one could argue that permanent + invisibility is enough. I like to point out this tiny part of the spell description.

Causing harm indirectly is not an attack.
Being used as a weapon, by an ogre, isn't a direct attack. Also bumping into people generally doesn't end invisibility [citation needed]. Being used as a improvised club is basically being forced into bumping people, but a bit harder.

That is very cool and seems to fit perfectly. I can't believe that I missed that enchantment.

My first thought is a build which uses Deadly Stroke (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/deadly-stroke-comba) for a sort of semi-pounce. (Though since it requires Greater Weapon Focus - many classes can't qualify for it.)

Use Deadly Stroke the first attack when moving into melee and then use full attacks. (or a build such as Blade of Mercy/Enforcer/Shattered Defenses to keep using Deadly Stroke)
