I noticed in the last panel of today's comic (482), Elan didn't have the usual scared/suprised expression (such as this:smalleek:). The Giant added an extra little line to the side. I have to say, that little extra line made the comic for me. The extra line made Elan seem twice as scared as he would have if he had the normal expression. That showed just how scared he was, and also it showed that the Giant knows how the details affect the comic, even the smallest details.
Did anyone else notice the line? Does anyone else think it had this intentional significance?

If you cover it up with your cursor, he still looks just as scared, at least to me. But, it was a nice touch.

I see what you mean, he sure does look terrified.

I'm sure he's done that before, but I don't recall when, perhaps when V was facing that death knight?:smallconfused:
no apparently not. hmm...

I noticed this too, and it really does fit here very well. You see, leaving a loved one is really a hard thing to do, impossible maybe.

When it comes to true love you can expect that Elan really would jump into the water, and as the Giant didn't want to go too in depth here, these new expressions really showed us what Elan thinks about his beloved.

Anything else would make us doubt his love.

I totally didn't notice.

Oh yeah, it is an extra line.

I sort of noticed it, but interpreted it as a 'sweat drop', like they always use in amine when a character is suddenly worried or scared.

Which is odd, as I don't watch much anime.

The sweat drop usually means it is an awkward situation or they are embaressed.

I noticed it and I agree it helps for emphasis. It's happened once or twice before, but it's really rare.

Exactly the same here. Definitely makes him look more scared, and I think terrified is the right word. It also looks like the larger of the two main lines is a little wider than usual.

Hinjo has it here. It is a nice touch and the giant seems to use it only when someone is truely terrified.

I think the lopsided-ness of the two main lines is more what's creating the distressed look. Makes him seem frantic and on edge.

But the little extra lines does give it a little extra more.

I didn't notice that one on Hinjo. I like it, mainly because I agree that it adds just a touch of panic to the person's appearence.

3 strips later, on 409 Miko has a similar expression of anger.

I've definitely found the first use:

Roy appears to have a similar, though slightly different, expression here, in panels 3 and 5. Also, in the last panel, the lines are much larger than usual.

I totally didn't notice.

I never did either. But I don't read this comic with a fine tooth comb like most people do who post here.

OMG MY BFF JILL!! I noticed that, and wanted to make a thread about it, but was too lazy! It sooo made the comic for me.

P.S. I think the :smalleek: line on the left side of his face (facing us) is longer than normal.

wow, never noticed the improved graphics. I didnt notice the line either, but i think the best artists/game designers , are those who put stuff in that fleshes it out without you noticing. in games you only really notice the graphics exessively if they are either to flashy, or two crummy

That more for anger than terror. But it still is effective.
