View Full Version : Thought Experiment: Removing the stipulations from Extend Spell Meta magic

As long as 5e has been around I don't think I've seen or heard of a single sorcerer taking the extend spell meta magic.

So how powerful is it removing the restriction on it?

There are two ends to this. The short end and the long end.

Well here's the Long
Mass suggestion gets better and works for two days.

That's not too bad. And really not that much of a change. I'm probably missing a ton of spells but this is the potentially encounter/story changing one.



And Short of it.
Well, here's where the thought experiment gets interesting.
Shield- now lasts for two turns (and maybe can stack though typically spells of the same name don't but still)
Blade ward- marginally better
Color Spray- now blinded for two rounds (honestly not that much better I think)

There are a lot more but again I'm just doing the ones that came to my mind.

I don't know how broken any of this is. While it is certainly good I don't know if it is game-shatteringly good.

What do you guys think?
