So I took the 4e wizard from the PHB and decided to make it look like the 5e set up, for the most part.

You would make your character using mostly 5e rules. Background, ability scores, ability score maximums, race, and all the non-class stuff would come from 5e.

There is never a spell that is an attack roll, all the spells offer a saving throw. However, because of how 4e words things, your spells are "attacks" when it comes to the purpose of triggering stuff (typically bad things for you lol).

Something needed to be done about the encounter versus daily issue on spells and I think making encounter spells reliable works well enough, it even harkens to the 5e wizard's ability to pull back arcane magic. I didn't want to just get rid of them as many of them are really cool and thematic.

This isn't done but really I don't need to put a lot of effort into it, most of the work is just doing a bit of math (x5) and going to have to specify targets with spells.

Arcane Implement Mastery is essentially the subclass. If you want to be a specific type of wizard, take the spells that make you that type of wizard. I think subclass feats would also be a good way to show this... Like...

Conjurer (Arcane Specialist Feat)
Req: Arcane Spellcaster
Ability Score: Gain +1 in Int or Cha

Bonus: You may expend a spell slot in order to switch places with a willing ally. This ally must be within 30' of you. If one of you are bound or being held by a creature or force then whomever switched with them takes their place being bound or held.

Special: You can't take any other Arcane Specialist feats if you have this feat.

I have no clue how multiclassing would work... Feats might be the best option, maybe somesort of hybrid rule.

The Wizard (eventually with warlock spells for some additional fluff)

The Cleric (eventually with Invoker spells)

The Fighter/Rogue/Warlord

Might just make the martial classes into one class and have power choice determine what you are? Maybe... Hmmm...

Huh. I don't...I don't know how to respond to this appropriately. Honestly this sounds insane, but I'd love to see some examples of play...

I'm guessing it would play, essentially, like a D&D 5e Tactics game? You get the look and feel of 3e/5e but with 4e's balance and in battle tactics?
