Has anyone tinkered with a cross-class character Paladin & Magus, to experiment with a Paladin who has access to Spell Scribe armor? I know there are some alignment issues there, but I'm not familiar with another way to accomplish that... lol

1) Paladins can make that armor without being Magi, they just need the Scribe Scroll feat.

2) What alignment issues?

3) I'd probably stick with one class or the other, they don't synergize very well. Alternatively, I would skip them both and just use Warpriest.

Thanks for quick reply!

Ah, I missed that feat! (I'm at work and our firewall blocks sites classed as "Game" sites, so I can't hit Archives of Nethys or anything for research. BOO).

I said Alignment, wrong word, sorry. I was thinking that it called upon more Arcane style magic and would conflict with the more divine nature of Paladins. I've been away form RPGs a while (darn you work and school *shakes fist to no effect*) and am rusty.

Yeah, I actually have a WP as my primary, I just like the idea of a Paladin with Spell Armor, lol

No worries!

Divine spellcasters can make scrolls too - Paladins don't get the feat for free like Magi do, but you can just take it normally. The requirement is a caster level of 1, which Paladins get starting at level 4, thus the earliest you could take it normally would be level 5.

Spell Scribed armor is effectively just a scroll that does provoke when using and cost 4 four times more, right? I feel like I am missing something here. Wouldn't making scrolls be better in most situations?

"Not provoking" is a pretty big deal for classes that expect to be in melee. In addition, being on your armor makes the "scroll" much harder to pickpocket, disarm, steal or sunder. It also means you don't need to spend a move action retrieving it from storage. Finally, it also means you can use it with a 2-handed weapon - take hand off as a free action, activate spellscribe, replace hand as another free action. Compare to a scroll, where you actually need a hand free to retrieve/hold/unroll the item to use it, and merely taking a hand off your 2H weapon won't cut it.

You might be able to do something fairly interesting with the Eldritch Scion (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus/archetypes/paizo-magus-archetypes/eldritch-scion/) archetype for the Magus, changing the spellcasting to Charisma based and spontaneous (like a bard). Combining it with a two or three level dip with Paladin might be good, but at that point, I'd rather suggest taking levels in the Chevalier (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/c-d/chevalier/) prestige class.

Another interesting thing to do is pickup Raging Blood (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/raging-blood/) and Mad Magic (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/mad-magic-combat/) so you don't neglect your spellcasting while raging. Between Arcane Pool, Smite Evil, Bloodrage (lesser), and spellstriking you should do fairly well in combat.

Oh, and Flumefire Rage (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/flumefire-rage/) is good if you like fire magic.

Oooh, that sounds interesting... I'll check that out, thanks!

I'd say two levels of paladin and the rest in eldritch scion magus, yes. Possibly combine with Desna's divine fighting technique if your GM allows Desnadins. Instead of that armor, try the spell-scars arcana.

...what is a Desnadin?

Just a follower of the goddess Desna, who happens to be a Paladin. Desna does not typically offer to patron paladins, as she is chaotic good. They are referring to "Desna's Shooting Star" fighting technique. See this link (http://archivesofnethys.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Divine%20Fighting%20Tech nique). If the star knife is your thing, I second the suggestion.
