Have they clarified eldritch smite?

It says can only be used with warlock slots or whatever but so does divine smite and that still works with other spell slots so wondering what the dealio with eldritch smite is. :)

Cool thanks, that's how I would rule it too, kind of sucks since lock slots are so damn few and far inbetween but ow well.

They changed Divine Smite wording, it doesn't say "paladin slots" in the newer printings.

Divine Smite ≠ Eldritch Smite. It doesn't have to be exact copy.

Honestly, it's better this way. No single character should be able to "Win The Game" on regular basis by dealing ridiculous amounts of single target weapon damage. Remember, D&D isn't a solo RPG. It's not about you and your special snowflakes alone in the spotlight 24/7.

If you want that, there are many video games out there where you can be the star and outshine the "irrelevant others"...
