I want to create a character who is an explosives expert. Someone who lays triplines, and throws dynamite at his enemies. Basically the guy from duck you sucker. I have no idea how to do this in 5th. So how would I create a bomb throwing, mine laying badass who only believes in dynamite?

"I wouldn't do that. You shoot me, and I fall; and if I fall, they'll have to redraw the map."

A refluffing of a spellcasting class?

The only thing I can think of is the Trapsmith subclass of Middle Finger of Vecna's Craftsman class.

You might take a look at the Unearthed arcana article on the Artificer.

Refluffing the Alchemist or Gunsmith could get you there.

The closest things to mines are Glyphs of Warding which I think may still be on the Gloom Stalker spell list.

I did this once using a Conjuration Wizard. I Conjured* up alchemist fire and acid and dynamite (Forgotten Realms) and threw it doing some pretty massive damage at lvl 2 because 10lbs of dynamite was a lot of dice. Now add in the new Thieves Tools stuff from Xanathars and you can set traps with a Find/Disable DC based on what you roll to set it.
