This isn't what the ability states though. It states you multiply the damage from the weapon. It's very different than simply multiplying all the damage.

When mounted and using the charge action, you deal double damage with a melee weapon (or triple damage with a lance).

Substitute, the indefinite article "a" in "a melee weapon" for the definite article and it makes things a lot more clear. "you deal double damage with the melee weapon". The melee weapon isn't melee weapon + power attack + strength bonus. However, since the feat can be used with any melee weapon, they used the indefinite article instead of the definite one, but the reading doesn't change.

Further discussion, if you so want, should be had in a different thread to avoid clogging the Q&A

The Spirited Charge feat does not invent a new way of multiplying damage.

You are saying that "melee weapon" does not equal "melee weapon + power atttack + strength Bonus" which would be a fine Assertion if "melee weapon + power atttack + strength Bonus" would actually be a proper expresion.
But it isn't. "Melee weapon" is a class of item that (among other Things) can be used to deal damage. Thus normal rules for weapon damage applay to melee weapons, as does multiplying.
A rules effect of "deal damage with X" will use whatever rules the type of object X has for dealing damage. In case of a melee weapon this is base weapon damage + str mod + other modifieres (other rules can modify this formula of course).
"Deal double damage with X" is a a specialisation of "deal damage with X" and inherits all rules from that unless otherwise specified. The modification is to "double" that damage which means to increase the damage Multiplier by one. The damage multiplication is done by using the type of object X rules for damage multiplication. For melee weapons that is base damage * Multiplier + static mods * Multiplier + variable mods.
