3.5 ravenloft questions

I am going to run Expedition to Castle Ravenloft in a few months. I have read through almost all the book so far and have a few questions.

The rituals needed to wake up the sword and amulet. how do the PC's know how to do the rituals? do they learn about the rituals when they hear about the items? and when does that actually happen?

Has anyone come up with a better way to "finish" the adventure?

how do they find out about Strad's connection to the fanes?

taint - yes or no?


I've read most of the other threads on gitp and any other advice would be great.

What exactly don't you like about the existing ending? I personally ran it as part of a larger 'New' Ravenloft game, but I didn't think the existing ending was bad?

someone posted advice on another thread a substitute for the legacy powers for the sword and amulet. can anyone lead me back there. I cant find it
