So basically, this is meant to be a frontline melee combatant using maneuvers, feat selection, and general tactics to defend my allies but also to enhance their attacks.
My team will consist of me, an assassin rogue, and a vengeance paladin (with GWM)
Here's my build so far:
Race: Variant Human
Class: Battlemaster Fighter 7
Style: Protection
Feats: Shield Master, Brawny, Resilient (wisdom)
Maneuvers: Commander’s Strike, Distracting Attack, Maneuvering Attack, Rally, Riposte
Abilities: Str 16, Dex 14, Con 13, Int 10, Wis 14, Cha 13
Background: Outlander (Wanderer)
Skills: Athletics* +9, Perception +5, Persuasion +4, Stealth +5, Survival +5
Tools: Ocarina, Smith’s Tools
We were given 29 point buy and I got permission from the DM to grab Brawny from the Skill Feats UA, which gives me expertise in athletics (and +1 strength) without having to multiclass.
Also, I have a magic shield that lets me use protection style without eating my reaction (still can only use it once per round). Hence riposte.
What do you think?
Is this as effective as I think it will be? Should I be worried about my low strength? What could I do to improve the concept?
