Back to the Classic Red hand of Doom campaign.
Last time this was attempted the party failed to survive Part IV, thus im running it again in hopes that this time they can finish it.
This is also a play test to see if we like Playing By Post(ing)

The instructions for this game can be found on the Drive.

A brief introduction:
You are all sitting in a tavern after fulfilling your quest to slay the Ettin Bum Boombutt. In his lair you found a scroll case containing a old map that shows the location of Vraath Keep, which is rumored to have a vault containing great treasure. Feeling the need to adventure tug on your soul, you decide to travel east on the Dawn road to a town called Drellin's Ferry, which according to the map is a small settlement south of the keep, that could be used for resupplying and gathering usefull information.

The road crests a small rise and descends into a dusty grove in a largde, shallow dell. The sun is shining brightly and the air is warm and hazy. An abandoned farmhouse, partialy visible through the trees, stands on one side of the road. A group of travelers is on the road. A grim and gruff ranger is leading the group and is followed by an old man with pale bluisch skin, flanked by a small black bear, dressed in furs and a bronze coloured breastplate. walking next to the old man is a servant of Bahamut. Light golden scales adorn her visage that also displays a cat like grace. In the back of the party walks an elf together with a small lady that looks like a geisha.
This scene is much like the other ones that you have passed as you traveled east on the dawn way toward Drellin's ferry. The map you retrieved from the ettins lair shows that to the north of the town is a keep, who's fault contains legendary treasure.
As you continue walking allong the road you feel something is off.

The graceful drakelike frigure in the middle of the group walks along nonchalantly, clearly not expecting anyone to be on this road besides herself and her friends. Tough they make an odd party in her sight, they are a group of friends nonetheless.

Perception Check:[roll0]

As soon as her eyes fall upon the strange hump, the drakelike female halts gracefully, as if she had intended to put her foot down midstride, and smoothly pulled a longsword from a scabbard hanging from her side. Fire starts to glow in her eyes, as well as the eyes of her companions, at least to the sight of those close enough to see them (Energy Shield aura activated).

"Show yourself!" The lite female voice, though undoubtedly feminine and sweet, carries far and is loaded with the power of one who expects to be obeyed, filling the air with the static of expectancy.

The ranger walks quietly along with his friends. He had been a man of very few words in the past adventures with his comrades, and he would be the same this time around. His bow equipped, as always, and alert as he was, he senses something is off.

perception check [roll0]

As he had expected, something was fishy. In an instant the party watched the ranger shift from a loose, walking posture to a very static, almost immobile posture. There was an arrow on his bow and his hood was up. You could not see his face, as the party had gotten used to when in a dangerous encounter. Spencer waited quietly for something to make the first move.

I think i will just roll overall initiative per character from now on in 1 post, so as not to clog up the thread.
Bjarni can share initiative with his master.

You all glimpse the glint of mail through the undergrowth by the side of the road. Fierce warriors -tall, hairy humanoids with wide mouths and flat faces - are lying in wait to ambush you!

Due to your initiative you all act before the goblins and are not suprised. The battle map provided on the drive shows your current positions. Describe what you want to do and where you want to go using the wind directions and i will try to replace you on the map accordingly. Roll for both to hit and damage at the same time. Enjoy!

They move towards the first figure on their left.

Spotting the hobgoblins that have tried (and failed miserably) to hide themselves and realizing an ambush is happening the party scatters.
Shiro takes to the air and with a short hand gesture, a dazzling color patterns start to swirl around her.
Bjorn and Bjarni both move to the south east toward the closest hobgoblin. The dragonborn Therana calles out “Show yourselves!” and after no reply comes she charges into the shrubbery where she sees the first hobgoblin.
She swings wide and instead of biting into flesh the blade bites into the wood of a nearby tree.
The ranger Spencer stands in place and fires 3 arrows in rapid succession at the same hobgoblin that Therana just charged. Despite his shooting skills only 1 arrow manages to pierce the hobgoblins defence and hits it in the left shoulder.
The goblinoid howls in pain, but keeps a hold of his shield. He drops the javelin he was holding and draws a short sword, while barking something in goblin. He stabs at Therana, but she gracefully steps aside his clumsy thrust. Another hobgoblin comes rushing through the woods and after linking shields with his comrade also tries to stab Therana. This time the blow is parried by her sword. An arrow hisses from the bow of the 3e hobgoblin in the east towards Bjorn and punches a small hole in his breastplate doing little damage .
The Hobgoblins to the south throw javalins at Bjorn and Bjarni, but they both miss. The last hobgoblin (nr. 6) raises a horn to his lips and throws a short high note into the air.
Bjorn receives 3 damage

You can see another hobgoblin exit the farmhouse, flanked by what looks like 2 red scaled draconic leopards with frills like a lizard on their head. (see drive for picture)

Round 2
Spencer finishes of the hobgoblin that was struck by his arrow with another volley. The hobgoblin is hit twice more, once in the chest and another arrow pierces the side of his helmet as he is about to strike Therana. An arrow fired from the woods zips past Spencer’s face as a weak attempt at retaliation to his slain comrade.

“Surrender now, while you still live, goblin! My Mercy shall not be extended more than once!” Therana challenges the goblinoid. Her sword strikes true and punctures the chainmail that was protecting his belly, causing a bleeding wound. A golden colored tail snakes out from behind her and a sickening crack can be heard as the hobgoblins leg is pummeled by the muscular tail of the dragonborn. The hobgoblin retaliates by stabbing at Therana, but again she dodges his now clumsy attempt.
Bjarni, enraged by the memory of being hunted by other creatures with spears and the sound of hunting horns charges the hobgoblin that raised the signal, but his claw is deflected by the hobgoblins shield. The hobgoblin draws his blade and stabs the bear in the shoulder. The Bear grunts in pain as blood starts to flow. The hobgoblin laughs and twists the sword wickedly and pulls it out, causing the blood to flow quicker.

Bjorn follows his companion and walks towards the other hobgoblins that attacked him and his friend. Raising his hand he opens his left eye. The eye glows ice blue and the hobgoblins suddenly feel quite cold. The hairs on their brows and face start to ripen with frost and its getting hard to breath in the frigid air. They drop their javelins and draw their swords. Linking their shields they stab at Bjorn. The hobgoblin to Bjorns left feints an attack and while twisting his spear to block the blow, Bjorn is stabbed by the other Hobgoblin in the leg. “This land belongs to the people of the Dragon you human scum!”

Shiro-sama spots the draconic leopards bursting through the trees and running towards the Ranger. She fires a bolt of dark energy at the creature hitting it straight in the face, but while the creature roars in pain it keeps running.
Another Hobgoblin emerges next to the hobgoblin fighting with Bjarni and says: “You MAGGOTS! Can’t even kill this measly creature? You even damaged what could have been a nice rug for my tent! Do I need to do everything myself?

Bjarni receives 7 damage, Bjorn 4. Map is updated. Also a reminder, if you dont specify it doesnt happen.

Shiro shouts: "We have some incoming giant red lizards. I'll soften them up a little, but am afraid they will be near you in a beat or two. And another same ugly kappi." And fires another bolt of dark energy at the charging beast.

Despite the pain of the wound Bjorn’s thoughts are with his animal companion Bjarni. Under his direction Bjarni moves a bit to the side and tries again to maul the creature standing before him. As Bjarni moved to the side an arrow appears in the tree that was just infront of Bjarni. The hobgoblin is trying to staunch the bleeding, caused by the claws of the bear. He stabs for Bjarni but does so with less vigor then before and is unable to land a good hit.

Björn rose up and held both his hands up. As he does so a small, snowy cloud appears between his hands. He throws it a few feet away from him in the center of his enemies. "Welcome to my terrain!" A cold chill comes down, but the hobgoblins are not amused. The new goblin rushes at you with his shield and deals you a powerful blow, attempting to knock you of your feet. The other two are embolden by the presence of their captain and strike at Bjorn with renewed vigor. The hobgoblin to your left plunges his sword in your gut and the one to the right his you in the shoulder. Pain flows through Bjorn as he tries to recover from the assault.

Spencer is shocked by the speed of these great red lizards. He takes a step back and fires another volley at them. His first arrow fells the lizard already damaged by the dark energies for Shiro and his other 2 arrows strike true at the other lizard. It roars and starts to claw and bite in a mad frenzy at the ranger. It rakes you with a talon and bite down hard on your shoulder.

Seeing as the hobgoblin has not surrendered Therana Launches another attack at the goblinoid. But be it the sheer tenacity of being near deaths door or just dumb luck, She is not able to land a hit on the dying creature. The hobgoblin is still rattled from the earlier assault and is desperately trying to defend himself flayling madly with his sword to keep the dragonborn at bay. It is a feeble attempt.

First order of buisness:
Bjorn receives 27 damage and needs to roll a str check to not be tripped. Also when you cast a spell the monsters are allowed an attack of oppertunity, and if those would have hit Bjorn would probably have died...
Spencer recieves 13 damage from the ragedrake

Seeing the escalating situation Spencer decides to help out Bjorn at the cost of his own safety. "Shiro, finish this beast off will you? Bjorn needs my help!" he yells to the lady gently floating in midair as he takes a few steps back and fires at the hobgoblin (nr. 4) to his right. The creature drops dead and is slammed to the ground after its skull is pierced by two arrows. Swiveling to his left he fires another arrow at the red lizard creature, but the incoming projectile bounces of the creatures scales.
An arrow sails past again, but the hobgoblin is not a very good shot and continues to miss.

Rocked from the earlier blows, Bjorn is unable to keep his footing as the hobgoblin crashes into him with his shield. Uttering a word of power he activates his belt of healing. The three moonstones lose their shine, but he feels energy flowing into him and away from death’s door. Just as he feels energy returning to him he can see the hobgoblin grin and yell: ”This is not your terrain, this is the dominion of the people of the dragon! Die, Insect!”
The hobgoblin stabs you where the previous hobgoblin had also penetrated your armor and causes a grievous wound. He also slams down his shield for good measure and tries to crush you under its weight.

Shiro responds to Spencers plea by concentrating all her fears into a dark ball of energy and flinging it at the red lizard. The growing fear makes the creature lash out more violently with his claws and he is able to bite Spencers arm. A clawed foot comes up and tears into the leather armor on his leg, ripping it and carving a slash that starts to bleed.

Bjarni, sensing his master is close to dying goes into a frenzy and mauls the goblinoid again so he can go and protect his master. His claws are caught by the shield, but using his weight he tears it down and bites the hobgoblin in the neck, ripping out a part of flesh as the hobgoblin dies and chokes on his own blood.

A shadow moves through the trees and a loud -twack- can be hear from a crossbow firing. The elf has arrived at the scene! The bolt penetrates the hobgoblins helmet. A hand weakly grasps at the bolt before its legs buckle and he also drops dead on the floor.

Therana sees her companion falling to the ground and with a quick backhanded sweep of her sword decapitates the hobgoblin who refused to surrender and needed to taste her steel and the scales of justice. She then runs down to join the fray.

As she runs she can see more hobgoblins marching towards them from the south.

How are you not dead yet, you devilish lizard?

Spencer gets bitten and clawed and is obviously hurt, yet he doesn't seem to care. Even as the drake is gnawing at him, he still chose to shoot down the goblin attacking Bjorn, with succes. Two arrows pierced his head and Spencer is satisfied. He quickly dashes backwards and calls out to Shiro once again. "Think you can take this hideous creature down Shiro? He looks like he's not got much spirit left in him." Then he turns his gaze towards the hobgoblin in the woods who was shooting arrows at him. He removes his hood and squints his eyes. In himself he whispers, "This is how an actual archer does it." He takes a deep breath and shoots Hobgoblin no 3 (unless the lizard is not down yet after Shiro's attack, in which case as many arrows as needed to bring it down go towards the lizard first)

Round 5
The hobgoblin hisses in pain as flames strike back at him.

Bjorn, while still reeling from the pain of the wounds dealt to him by the hobgoblin, feels the cold energies returning to his eye. Opening it once more he tries to freeze the hobgoblin with his piercing blue gaze.
Bjarni spots the last hobgoblin who is firing at Spencer and trots toward it

Not seeming to care about the large red lizard dangling at his arm and raking his leg, Spencer takes pride in the shots he just took. Amazingly calm he shakes of the creature and takes a few steps back to create some space. Sensing the strength of the creature is fading he asks Shiro to finish the creature off. He also speaks a word of power, causing one moonstone to dim and energy to flow back into his wounds, then he turns his gaze towards the hobgoblin in the woods who was shooting arrows at him. He removes his hood and squints his eyes. In himself he whispers, "This is how an actual archer does it." He takes a deep breath and shoots.
Two arrows hit the vile creature that was attempting feats of archery well beyond his capabilities. It groans and with fierce contempt and determination pulls back the string of his longbow to fire an arrow back in return. But it seems that no matter how determined the creature is to hit Spencer he just can not hit the ranger.
"It is funny you should speak of the people of the Dragon, scum, for I am the emmisary of the Great Dragon and he says you defile this land. For this crime, you and yours shall pay with your blood!" Therana says as she runs towards the hobgoblin captain. She feels an icy cold as she comes closer to the hobgoblin, but despite the well below freezing temperatures she aims an overhead swing at her opponent, but he deftly deflects the blow with his shield.
Retaliating with an attack of his own the hobgoblin tries to strike back at the dragonborn. But he is also feeling the cold and the dragonborn is more light on her feet then he anticipated. A dark energy sweeps over him and he feels fear trying to creep into his mind. He shouts: “The Red Hand is closing on the valley and there is nothing you can do! This is a fight you can’t win, Dragonborn!” He spits out the last word.
Horo, drops his crossbow and takes a few quick steps to get behind the red lizard. He punches one dagger into the beasts flank, while ripping another dagger across the creatures back. The draconic creature bellows in pain and crumbles to the ground, withering and dying in agony.
Hearing the call for aid from her companions, Shiro flies toward the melee and fires another bolt of dark fear energy at the creature. As she flies over she can see that the dark clad elf has made short work of the lizard with his two daggers.

The group to the south comes closer and a great roar can be heard from them as they chant: “We are the Kulkor Zhul! CHARGE!”

The hobgoblin receives 6 cold damage and 8 fire damage and Therana receives 2

Spencer readies an arrow and fires it at the first hobgoblin that comes charging towards him. His arrow punches right through his shield and chainmail and the goblinoid is catapulted from his feat and lands on the dusty ground, lifeless eyes staring up at the clouds which are lit with the late day sun.

Therana, satisfied that her foe is down, turns around and sees the enemy cluster approaching. She says to those close to her, who she is sure have seen the enemies by now:

Another dark bolt from the flying geisha fells a second hobgoblin. The hobgoblins in return charge at Therana, but only one is able to land a hit, only to be burned by a jet of flame that burns a hole though his chest. The other vicious attacks are gracefully dodged by the dragonborn.

The Hobgoblins that are attacking Therana are swept away by shots that are born from countless hours of practice. The remaining hobgoblin charges at the hunter that just felled his comrades with a shout of defiance and anger. His blade pierces Spencer’s defense and draws blood. At the same time another hobgoblin in a breastplate appears, seemingly out of thin air and while holding up his unholy symbol says:” FOR THE GLORY OF THE DARK LADY!” A dark pulse bursts form the symbol and damages all around him as he laughs madly. He pulls out his punching dagger as he runs and tries to jump and stab the hobgoblin in the neck, but a treacherous rock foils his attempt as he trips and rolls into a flanking position, but unable to hit the hobgoblin effectively.

A bit rattled by the wound he received from the hobgoblin’s short sword, Spencer steps back and fires another 3 arrows in rapid succession at his attacker. The first arrow hits and kills the goblin, who was a bit seared by the fiery backlash of Therana’s draconic aura. Adjusting his aim Spencer fires his 2 remaining arrows at the last remaining hobgoblin and wounds him in the shoulder.

The bear Bjarni also rushes at the armored hobgoblin holding a strange pulsing symbol. With a grunt he claws at the goblinoid and is able to wound him. Bjorn pulls out a wand and uses its magical energy to heal himself.

Therana charges at the hobgoblin with the symbol, but he uses his shield well and is able to avoid her sharp blade and muscular tail.

Having been hit by the negative energy pulse Shiro moves up and fires a dark tendril towards the hobgoblin standing below her. Passing straight through his shield and armor the hobgoblin is pained by the bolt and is struggling to keep his composure.

He takes a step back and unleashes another pulse of darkness, while shouting: “May the Dark Lady Embrace me!” The dark pulse washes over the group and the hobgoblin is torn apart by the darkness.

Amidst the many bodies a few items are worth your time. The hobgoblin that was shredded by darkness has left behind a suit of banded mail, which seems to be magical. The symbol he carried shows a swirl of different colors. Upon closer inspection you can see that it is in fact the necks and heads of 5 chromatic dragons that are intertwined with the red dragon in the center.

This is an unholy symbol of the draconic deity Tiamat, who is currently locked away in some kind of prison.

Both the shield and sword that lay next to the defeated hobgoblin captain are also of fine workmanship. The short sword looks like the head of a white dragon is spewing forth a blade of ice. The edges of the sword are serrated. The shield is made out of metal, painted blue and embossed onto the surface is the head of a white dragon.
Most of the hobgoblins also carry flasks with a blue liquid in them.
Inside the small farmhouse you find the remains of a campfire and some dirty bedrolls. The smell of smoke mixes with the stench of the creatures that used to sleep here. As you enter further into the building you can see five corpses piled up at the west wall. Two of them were clearly bodyguards of a wealthy merchant. The merchant and, what you assume is one unlucky local farmer are also on the pile. Next to the body of the merchant is a well made purse. The purse is heavy and contains plenty gold coins.

The journey continues: Drellin’s Ferry
The road continues on for a few miles. Spencer’s keen eyes find no other signs of an ambush like the glinting of chainmail or other tracks. The road descends into a small town built mostly on the near side of a broad, sluggish river. Six old stone piers jut from the water, marking the spot where a bridge once stood, but the bridge itself is long gone. Instead, a couple of long thick ropes cross the river, each secured to a flat-bottomed ferryboat. Brown fields and green orchards surround the town. A group of armed townsfolk – three in studded leather, wielding spears and one in mail with a sword and shield - stand guard, watching you warily. The burly man clad in chainmail and who sports a waxed mustache holds up his hand and says: ”Halt and state your business, strangers.”

Next to him stands a tall, strong boned woman with simple good looks hidden behind an unsmiling manner. She looks like a capable swordfighter.
“Sorry to trouble you, travelers, but I’d like a few minutes of your time,” the man says.
“My name is Norro Winston, and I am the Town Speaker for Drellin’s Ferry. This is our guard captain, Soranna. I’ll get right to the point: We’re in a lot of trouble, and I was hoping I could persuade you to help us out. You see our town is being plagued by these hobgoblin raiders who have been harrying our lands for several days now. They’ve attacked and killed people in the outlying homesteads, and they’ve been waylaying travelers along the Dawn Way.”
Captain Soranna adds: “We’ve had some trouble with them before – a quick raid on the homesteads on the west side of the river, usually not that bad – but this is different. It looks like a large aggressive tribe has moved down out of the Wyrmsmoke Mountains. Frankly I fear they might be numerous enough to sack the town.”
“Beyond the immediate threat on our homes, the Dawn Way is our lifeblood,” the Speaker continues. “If the hobgoblins make the Dawn Way impassable to the west, trade won’t come this way, and we’ll be ruined. Not only do we need to repel the raiders from our town, but we’ve got to keep that road open. Can you help us do it?

The interior of Shiro-sama's room is slightly changed from how it normally is. The matress is taken from the bed and placed in front of the fireplace. All the cushions are arranged as if to make a dam on the side away from the fire. All fabrics, which are normally quite boring are now almost vibrantly alive with colours and patterns. In the middle of this artfull nest someone has recently been resting.
The fire itself is burning high already.

"Shunkan!" Is Shiro-sama's response on the knock on het door. When she opens it, her dress and hair is immaculate.

She politely hears them out and then replies: "What specificly you us want to do? Size check? Position check? Everything kill? Hmmm...?

He tries to put it behind his ears somewhat but some strokes of hair stay in front of his face. "Evening. I overheard your conversation just now. After having had dinner, (some sort of lambstew, nice and spicy), Therana realises she never did answer the bridgeman, but only smiled a halfhearted toothed smile at him. Before dark falls, she makes her way to the bridge to reassure the bridgecrew they have nothing to worry about, and make a little small talk with them. Talking to them, she being an emissary of the Great Dragon, improves their morale because, she assures them, the Great Dragon will watch over them and repay that which the goblins took. She asks a little about their families and how they have been faring, but makes sure to ask nothing intrusive.

When the dusk started settling properly, Therana made her way to their rooms, and listens intently when the captain speaks.

"Although my friend-san puts it a little odd, her question stands. What do you want us to do exactly?" Therana's interest is piqued, because she wants to know how she fits in the situation. From the sounds of it, the hobgoblins need a lesson, something in which Therana is happy to oblige. "If there really is an entire tribe out there, what exactly do you expect us to do about it? We can try and trim their numbers down a bit, as we have done with those we met, but taking an entire tribe head-on is a different type of game."

Speaker Winston answers the question. “Ofcourse we don’t expect you to just go out and take on an entire tribe by yourself. You all look capable enough, but for such a task you would need an army. No, we want you to locate their forward base. If the entire tribe was already close, the village would have already been plundered.” He turns white at the thought of the villagers raided by goblins and his beloved village being reduced to ashes.

Captain Soranna continues: “We send a dozen guardsmen across the river west on the road to find out where the foul creatures might be lairing. But the Witchwoods are not as safe as they used to be. A few miles into the forest they where cut to pieces, pierced by black spikes and arrows. The hobgoblins are using evil magic and fearful monsters against us. Until you showed up, we havn’t had any heroes here who could stand up against them.
We think it is quite likely that the creatures have laired in what was known to be Vraath Keep. It is supposed to be haunted, but they might not care.

We would like you to access the situation and if possible clean out the lair. Rumor has it that a powerful magic item lies in the vault of the Keep. Maybe that can be used to drive them back. If you are willing to help us, you can keep any items you find (a letter of mark will not be necessary) and I would advise you to seek out Jorr. You can’t find someone who knows the woods better.”

Speaker Winston adds: “We understand that we ask a lot of you and have not much to offer you in return, but please consider helping us. Lives are at stake here. Please discuss it with your group and give us an answer tomorrow.”

“Excellent, you have decided to help us!” She pulls out a map and gives you directions to find Jorr. “His cabin is a bit out of the way and he is a bit odd, but it would be worth the try. If you take the Witch Trail, go left at the first big trail crossing; Jorr’s cabin is about seven miles in. Or if you’re on the Dawn Way, take a right on a trail about nine miles from the forest edge. Jorr’s Cabin is near the Blackwater.”

Breakfast for Therana is hearty and simple: eggs, bacon, a few slices of bread with a cup of tea. She goes up and dons her armor, the dragon's head etched into the breastplate. She buckles her belt, the sword seeming heavier today than it did yesterday, and straps her shield to her back. Feeling the burden of her armor rest upon her familiarly, she thinks to herself. Wielding the power of death never gets easier, does it? I guess we hope that suffering ends one day, so we can stop sending suffering in return. Until that time of blessed peace, however,
we wield steel and call upon fire, for what is lost in injustice, the Great God will repay.

After discussing their options with the captain outside, she simply says: "Alright, I guess we will be travelling via the road. With our numbers we will go faster that way, and we can go by horse."

Thus, After having saddled our horses, we ride onto the dawnroad to go find Jorr. I point to Bjorn, and say: "Take the lead, you are our best wayfinder."

After a good night's sleep and extensive magical grooming, Shiro-sama changes her dress into something suitable for breakfast. Today that means bright red and green.
She then turns on all her aura's and detects, leaves a lot of coppers in the silliest of places in her chamber for the maid, and heads down for breakfast. Pastries, fruit, a lot of whipped cream and some watered down white wine. Some small pies and cheese to go and then she is ready to go. That is after changing her garb back to the original mostly black.
No not black, because she just had breakfast. She changes to white. In the process she realizes that with all the dust on the road, pure white will most likely not hold overly long, so she changes it to orange.... but orange may not be handy when in an ambush... hmmm. Choices, choices, choices. She finally settles for a normal rich girl attire.

All done in the middle of the common room, without any regard for the other people who are seated there.

Kellin Shadowbanks was looking a the new adventurers that had decided to stay at The Old Bridge Inn. His daughter, who was in charge of cleaning the rooms had given notice that the geisha lady had some weird tendencies that might freak customers out. Kellin had the same impression of the small lady figure. He had dealt with many adventurers in his life, but she was one of the weirder ones indeed. He kept an eye on her as she and her companions were eating breakfast. It still came as a surprise though when she just started to undress in the middle of the common room. He sighed and uttered a few arcane syllables. A black curtain was drawn up around her, not so much for her, but to not disturb the other guests.

After they where about to leave the inn he motioned her over and explained courteously that it was not appropriate for a person of her standing to go and change in the common room. He told her that in the future she should retire to her own room (also in other establishments) to change.

After having received directions from Captain Soranna, the party heads north west towards the ferry. Captain Soranna tells them that she has told the ferryman that they where on an errand of the town and to help them cross free of charge. After the inquiry of Shiro, she says that she thinks that the spikes found on the town guards belong to a manticore.

The ferryman is more then happy to get the party across the river. During the six minutes it takes to get across he explains that business has declined since the hobgoblins showed up. Having mentioned the pary is looking for Jorr, the ferryman tells them that it might indeed be best to stick to the Dawn Way, because the Witch trails are not really suited for horses. You travel for about two hours and then Bjorn spots the trail that leads to Jorr’s Cabin. The path is indeed less wide and more overgrown, but you still make decent time. The trail leads past a small cabin in a deep forest glade. A ramschakle front porch is littered with fishing baskets and skinning frames. The cabin overlooks a dark bayou or lake, with old gray cedar trees draped in moss rising out of the water. An old skiff is tied up on the shore nearby, and a little smoke curls from the fieldstone chimney.

Suddenly three big dogs charge out from under the porch and start baying loudly. They stop ten feet short of the party and growl menacingly.
A minute later the cabin’s door opens, and a lean woodsman of indeterminate age steps unto the porch. He has a seamed, leathery look to his face and arms, and a big loaded crossbow is by his side. “Don’t get many visitors out here,” he rasps. “Who’re you, and what do you want with olde Jorr?”

As you move through the forest you can see that a wide expanse of dark water has flooded the woodland in this low valley. Trees still protrude from the calm, dark waters here and there, but many large reaches seem to be little more than open pools of algae-choked water. The trill of frogs and the Whine of insects fills the air. Despite the canopy shielding you from most of the summer sun it feels hot and humid. The forest road leads right down to the edge of the flooded section, up to a rickety-looking causeway made of thick planks of wood lashed together with mossy rope. The wooden causeway runs several hundred feet through the boggy patch, only a foot or so above the water.

Up ahead you can make out the wreckage of a wagon, lying on its side and half-sunk in the flooded forest, about thirty feet from the causeway. A large reptilian head is asleep on the wreckage, the rest of its body below the surface of the water.

Looming out of the shadowy woods ahead is a haunting sight -A ruined keep. The old castle sits on a small rocky hillock, and you can cath glimpes of a broken tower between the trees. A moss-covered stone at the side of the road you're following marks a footpath that looks like it leads up into the keep.

Jorr looks at the sun which is already decending after your hike through the woods. "Alright there now, it seems we ave bout three to four hours of sunlight left. I suggest we either see if these little pests are staying in this here keep now, while we have the daylight advantage, or we go back into the woods and set up a cold camp.
